1959 Nsu quickly

i am the proud owner of a 1959 Nsu quickly almost fully restored now what I am missing are the petrol tank decals/ transfers and the little sticker tank inserts if anyone has any ideas thanx in advance Dave on the Isle of Man

And this has something to do with model engineering or am I missing something important?

This is also ignoring the fact that only a limited age range of members will understand "NSU Quickly".

Model Engineering is a 'broad church' and it is almost certain that someone here will have knowledge of buying or making decals for [whatever].

There is also substantial interest in motorcycles, amongst forum members.

I suppose the NSU owners club is an obvious place to start, I had a Quick 50 in my youth, wish I still had it, they were rare then.

Thats a bit strong, I dont do model engineering, I restore Stationary Engines but I use a lathe and milling machines to make parts, by the way its a moped and was quite a good one.

I well remember NSU quick 50's, hankered after one myself but were rare & not cheap, started out with an Italian version … Capitano 50, if anyone remembers those rare birds.

British Two Stroke club of which I am a member has a section for auto cycles, and I think NSU comes under that, they will have a marque specialist for NSU. In the current club magazine there is an article about a member who makes rubber foot rests etc to a pattern. I think if you have an image it could probably be printed onto vinyl wrapping type material - self adhesive, very durable, worth contacting some vinyl/sign companies.

I’m like Martin, I don’t make models but I have restored some. All been to the scale of 12” to the foot so far.

I for one certainly remember the NSU Quickly, the things were ubiquitous, you saw them everywhere. They were , well-made and extremely reliable, but at that time you would have needed considerable foresight to see that nearly 60 years later they would become collectors items.

Hi Dave, One idea for your transfers would be, if you can create your own artwork (designs) would be to output them onto “ Colour Laser Printer Decal Paper” (search Google) and output them on a colour laser printer. Ink jet papers would be unsuitable as the inks are too fugitive.

This process could also be possibly used for clock and instrument faces and mounting onto litho plate material, the backgrounds of which could be achieved with either oil or water based paints for the background.

Quickly, Capitanos, Capri, Norman Nippy, Raleigh Runabout, Phillips Panda, etc etc, worked on all of them in the 1960s. If you struggle for parts try the Buzzin Club. Lot of specialist suppliers in their magazine, but if you've restored it I suspect you may be a member already.
