I have been looking at metal lens-hoods, as a convenient source of threaded tube

This one, for example, has 52mm male, and 58mm female threads:

So far, so good ... But could someone please decipher 'UKPL'

[ it features on quite a few ebay listings, not just that one ]

dont know AcronymFinder suggests : United Kingdom Paintball League

Might be UK purchase laws. If a dispute arises this is the law that would apply.

It might be UK Power Lister which is a common boast for foreign sellers but they are not using it on their other listings. So it might be a genuine part of the description such as Un-Known Plastic layer.

UK Product Line, possibly.

I've searched for these items on Ebay.cn in both English and Chinese but so far without success.

I'm not 100% certain but I seem to remember reading it stands for 'UK protected listing'. Which is something do with how you are covered if there is a problem, what that then means is another question entirely 😀

I wonder ... could it be that several start-up dealers are sharing the same e-bay address and the initials are there to show which of them placed this advert, and therefore whose stock should be sent etc? There are lots of similar unfathomable letters on other products, and it does seem to be on Chinese stuff.

Someone with plenty of time on his hands (nothing sexist about that, women are always busy, they say) might do some further research.

Cheers, Tim
