![]() 424 forum posts 98 photos | Hi Going back to page 9 of this thread John Steveson describes a tailstock conversion. I am interested in doing this but I'm confused by the first picture. It shows the replacement block that fits on the end of the tailstock and I can see the brass clamp that locks the barrel BUT it appears to go right through the bottom fixing holes. Could someone please shed some light on this. thanks Roy.

I suppose better that the Blackberry shrubs they usually swarm to. Both swarms now housed in their Nucleus boxes and seem happy. The main hives i have added empty honey boxes and they are filling nicely from fruit tree blossom. Clive |

Hi Roy I think that it goes through the counterbores so the screws will be infront of it. I am making the same for my minilathe. I am going to try the Bogstandard2 method which is to screw into the key. Cheers Michael |

Cheers Michael Michael, It was I who used the key to lock the dummy barrel, see pics below: And I can confirm, after much use, the locking method works very well, no regrets going down this route. This has to be one of the best mods I've done to this lathe (Spindle drive clutch next followed by screwcutting clutch) Graeme |

Neil Hi Neil, For a Seig minilathe you need 22 mm bar. Also note that M -Machine stock 22 x 3 mm steel tube which would save a lot of drilling. Mike |

![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Thanks Mike, Saved me some bovver! I found my old 'inversion' mountain bike forks today, with a distinct bend and bulge below the crown (ouch!) They have long tubes, over 1 inch diameter sliding inside outer tubes, unlike most forks its just alloy tube in alloy tube and the fit is amazing, a gentle push fit all the way and no shake. Even allowing for grease, it must have been the most expensive part of the manufacture. Danny, I may be doing this soon, although I use Thunderbird so it should just be a case of copying the user profile folder over. If I get stuck I'll shout, but I won't be without a machine at any point*. Neil *not now I know the problem with the old one was a bank of defective memory. |

One of those "not a Rush Job" which now suddenly has become one so I will have to sort some bits out and get cracking. Does anyone know what it is? J You are on the right track, it rings a Bell. The hammer and fairground bit don't apply. graham. (And that's your only guess as the prize is a selection of brand new Dormer bits |
