A sort of micro-survey question.......

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | This is just a carryover from facefreak and instant messaging and the like isn't it? The 'see when your friends are online' bit is rather big brother and potentially misleading if the browser is just left open. We have an even worse system at work where if you don't accept or reject the request it comes up every time you log on, and so you have to either offend a workmate or have a stupidly large list of contacts. |

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | You all missed a chance to reply "Yes, we all have hundreds, don't you have any friends then?" But yes, to be honest I look at the button and feel slightly embarrassed by it. I see everyone on this site in a spirit of friendship and I can't see why I would want to monitor someone else's online presence - this isn't a realtime chat site (although it approaches that when we really get going about site features). Neil P.S. to answer David's question (which I asked myself a little while ago): |

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | Status is rather unlikely to be seen. You have to click on a person's name to get that screen Neil shows above. It would be better as a signature like Oubaille adds at the bottom of his posts. ( which I find amusing) |

1468 forum posts 3 photos | I too seem to gain friends because I own a welder or 3 ! I found that if I tell them I have no electrodes or the gas bottle needs filling they suddenly wish to be my friend no longer ! i'm never going to use the my friends feature and the only time I would even bother to look up a members profile would be to see which country they live in if they were asking about where to buy something etc It is annoying when someone asks where can I get this or that and does not state where they live and does not have this on their profile either. Thanks for the kind comment re my sig, I try my best I will not/have not used any of those silly 'Like' buttons. I wonder if any who do, have real friends, or is it just a competition to see who has the highest number of 'Likes'? Geoff - Woohoo one person 'Likes' my Sig!

OMG, Thanks for the tip, but I doubt I shall be needing it in the future. Grey. Please do not 'spit the dummy'. Most of your postings have been quite educational and I'm sure that the majority of the forum readers (even the 'lurkers' I may have made the mistake of chucking a hissy at the yahoo groups that I used to subscribe to, but on reflection, it was not the groups that were at fault, but the administrators. At least on this forum, the administrators are actually prepared to, and act upon suggestions from the members. This is a remarkable situation, and apart from the whingers who whine like a Holden diff to get their grumpiness off, Katy has tried to address every problem in a very professional manner, and in her own time too! This forum is what we make it, and it is up to us, the members, to take it into the next decade. You decide. Cu Later * Danny M * |

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | Gray, Glad to see you're monitoring this. I note that Diane and Katy both apologised and offered to try and put things right; it was not they who read the riot act on the T&Cs., This suggests to me that the publishers would rather keep good relations with users than hide behind the letter of the law. As one of the empty vessels hinted at above, I still recognise we will all be considerably poorer here for the loss of you and other members. I know current circumstance means you have a lot of frustrations to cope with just to be able to keep on model making. Please have a cup of tea and sleep on it before abandoning us. Best Neil |

The surname was of interest to me which was what surprised me . IF he reads this perhaps he should open his inbox. No one has asked to be my friend since I was a five year old ! Nathan. |
