Now that Maplin (the original Maplin that is) is no longer in business, where can I get a short length of preferably black 1/2" or 12mm diameter heat shrink tubing. By short, although I only need about 150mm, I expect to have to buy 1 metre, and certainly not a 25m reel!

Ta,

Try model shops that sell radio-controlled items. I use to get some from them including sizes to make battery packs up

Occasionally our friends at Lidls have a box of assorted (diameter) heat shrink - purchased mine a few years back for about £3 and it's handy stuff to have. Worth watching for - and even better, it can go on the grocery bill

Just do a search for WISH, click on it and something like Ebay should pop up. Requires you to 'sign in' to access the products though.

Hi,

Thanks to all for your replies. I've had an offer of some f.o.c which I will be taking up, but the variety of places recommended, including Lidl(!) has astounded me. FWIW, Lidl has recently opened in our nearest town, and they do keep sending me emails - which I then dutifully delete. Perhaps I need to pay more attention.
