![]() 2929 forum posts 41 photos | I use Webroot anti virus and also have Malware Bytes a/v as a standby, not active unless I invoke it. Somehow I suddenly had an upgrade for Malware Bytes appear on the PC but thought nothing of it as it was for a 30 day trial. But, it completely knackered up the PC.On start up I got one internet connection and could not send or receive emails, and strangest of all a 'White out' screen as I tried to get onto the internet. Wracked my brains as to what it was and decided to delete the 30 day trial but no go it would not delete. I was stuck so decided then to run the PC back a month to before that 30 day trial appeared. NO GO, it told me the anti virus was blocking the action. Then, this afternoon I was able to delete the 30 day trial and the PC came back just as it was before the 30 day trial of malware bytes. I will never again use malware bytes! Clive |

I've seen much worse from other suppliers of software.

50 forum posts 2 photos | I have the free Malwarebytes on both of our computers. From somewhere Immunet installed itself on one computer and some other anti virus program on the other. That started doing all sorts of unpredictable things, and the other computer started to run slowly. I asked our daughter to uninstall both programs, Hey Presto. Everything started to run correctly and quite a bit faster. Malwarebytes had an upgrade and it became a lot easier and quicker to use. Now it tells you when there is an update, and runs a scan very quickly. Mike. |

![]() 2904 forum posts 448 photos | Hopefully a one-off from them, as they have been one of the good guys for some years now. I won't touch Avast Antivirus now, having had one of our boys' PCs bricked by it. They released a similar half-baked update that prevented you booting up. Although it was clearly a duff update (acknowledged thus on their forum), they wouldn't respond to enquiries, indicate any kind of urgency or action plan and certainly no form of apology. Finally after a couple of weeks in the dark I had to do a compete reinstall of the whole machine - apart from Avast of course. Some form of acknowledgement or apology would have been very helpful. Antivirus software is very difficult to work around as it's installed at a very low level so without their help you are stuffed. Murray |

1193 forum posts 59 photos | Have used Malware Bytes for years without any problems. Avast/AVG/Bullguard are all a PIA with their constant notifications/update fails etc. To be perfectly honest I use M/S security essentials now along with MWB and it does all I need. |

![]() 1688 forum posts 16 photos | Had problems with email on my Apple IMac, couldn’t receive or send with my Sky email account no problems with my outlook account. If I tried to reset it refused to accept the password specific to the Sky email account, no problems with the same account on IPad and IPhone, suspect malicious software infiltration on the IMac, first such problem in seven years of IMac use. Eventually after much manipulating of the parameters and unloading and reloading software the programme suddenly accepted the password and everything returned to normal. Checked the system with virus scanning software and nothing found so a mystery as to what caused the problem. I preach to others how reliable Apple equipment and software are, I do use a scanning virus software which to date has intercepted the odd malevolent programme so this episode is unexplained, perhaps those who seek to disrupt our computers are being more covert in their attempts, my opinion remains unchanged Apple far more reliable than Microsoft, I couldn’t go back to all the hassle pre my IMac. Virus programme that I use is Dr Antivirurus, always running and constantly updating, We can never be 100% safe as malevolent programmes are continually being constructed and evolving. Dave W |

![]() 713 forum posts 6 photos | I got an annoying rather than dangerous virus in my PC in spite of running McAfee LiveSafe. Installed and used the free version Malware Bytes, which zapped the virus. Livesafe does warn on dodgy websites and downloads, and I run a Malware Bytes scan every few weeks. Had no further trouble, touch wood........... |
