I am a retired newspaper and magazine editor, living in the far North of Scotland. I am also author of the book Metalworking - a Manual of Techniques (The Crowood Press, 1987) - not a free plug, because it is now out of print! No formal engineering qualification - learned the basics during five years of evening classes in the 1970s. Retain freelance position as technical editor of Sporting Gun magazine. I had a stroke in 2012, which limits my travel a bit now, but I spend two half-days a week working for a stroke charity.
