Left school and after a brief period studying engineering at Further Ed College I joined the Air Force as an Aircraft Technician in the early 60's. Spent 22 years in the Air Force doing many various jobs around the world, ended up as an NDT Technician on aircraft working on a wide variety of aircraft from Lightning fighters, V Bombers and the Battle Of Britain Aircraft. Left the Air Force and worked in various Pump Engineering companies in Quality Engineering rising to the dizzy heights of Quality Manager. Unfortunately my working life was cut short by the onset of PTSD attributable to past exposure to unpleasant situations when serving in the Air Force. This left me with a lot of time on my hands and I acquired machines and started building models and repairing anything that needed to be fixed. Currently have a Warco BV20 lathe, Axminister Mini Mill (CMD 10 variant) and a Chester V20S mill which I equipped with DRO's on the X and Y axis. I found that being able to engross myself with projects in the workshop really helped my recovery from PTSD, not yet sane but getting there. Dave
