Ebayer refused to sell to me - on their avoid list

I mentioned buying an 8mm air line that wasn't. For all I know it might have a 5mm bore, depends how thick the plastic is. Initially I thought make do but as I only bought it because it stated 8mm I thought no it's going back.

I left negative feedback along with some choice words before doing this. No contact after that but once it had been returned about 3 emails so far telling me how wonderful and honest they are and please with draw the feedback. I've just ignored them. I've bought several thousand things of ebay and have only been really annoyed 3 times plus a couple of mmmm's so I don't see why I should withdraw it. They still hadn't stated the bore last time I looked but had removed the 8mm.

Anyway. I found i needed one more bsp fitting and decided to order it off ebay this time. Found what I wanted and clicked buy it now and got the seller wont sell to you message. So just bought off some one else.

Maybe they are concerned about getting a number of them sent back. Can't help wondering.

I didn't even notice that I was buying off the same company.

Sorry, but I have to ask ... Did the advert for '8mm' air line actually state that it was 8mm bore, or was that just wishful thinking on your part ?

My reason being: It is standard practice for metric dimensioned pipes & tubes to specified by Outside Diameter [as you will obviously realise from your kitchen fitting adventures].

What was the point of your post? Its hard to be sympathetic without knowing more details about the goods and the seller.

Had you bought off this seller before without problems? also I presume the seller had a good feedback rating (otherwise surely you would not have purchased from him).

If the seller did not give enough details (not that uncommon) I would look have looked for another seller that did do. If the description is incomplete then its buyer beware as you cannot say that the goods did not match the description. I certainly don't see how you can give negative feedback if you made an assumption. I'm not surprised the seller was unhappy.

Air line is usually sold by bore where else I have looked. I finished up with a 10mm one - 10mm bore.

1/4 bsp for instance isn't a 1/4 od.

I also bought a length of air hose - sold on bore. When I received it I measured the OD so that I could order some ear clips. No point them listing that as I need to know the size with a hose tail in it.

I only ever leave negative if it's justified. If I feel that it's a mistake I deal with it as such. Actually I left neutral on another item and pointed out why - had a thank you from the seller. I didn't leave negative because I knew from the listing that it might not work out. They needed to add more info rather than fits most which it wont.

I'll add one other point - they sell a lot of pneumatic fitting so are probably aware of how lines are usually sold.

Did they know you wanted to put air through it. The push fit plastic fittings and flexible tube are all measured in metric and on OD as Michael says so I expect that is what you bought. I notice in a lot of your posts you use the word assume, maybe you just assumed it was 8mm bore.

What do they describe it as now if they have removed the 8mm from the description but also don't state the bore? is it just listed as "tube"

It's a bt like on here, several members have you on their avoid list, unfortunately as a moderator I can't blank out members posts from my screen.

I say this as it seems we are getting regular posts from you recently about how everything is everyone else's fault and never yours.

I have had delivery of a few items off ebay that when they arrived were not what I thought I would be getting. - But each time it was my fault for ordering the wrong size.

Not several Jason judging by PM's I have received, loads.

One guy went as far as to ask whether we could put a post limit per month on as he's fed up of certain members who don't actually produce anything taking over the board. Also concerned about the false information being spurted out in a quick reply before brain is engaged.

Personally after reading the plasma post where he's pissed about with everything on the machine I wouldn't sell him anything either.

In fact I wouldn't trust him to walk my dog.

That last bit is exactly what I expected Martin. The BSP fitting on the end suggests a size but draper for instance do one with 1/4 bsp and 10mm bore.

If it just said 1/4 bsp fittings I would know what I should get. However this one said 1/4bsp and 8mm. That is available too. So if some one sees 1/4bsp and 8mm ......................

At the time it was the only one listed like that.

Try this ebay search and note that some give 2 figures. I can't be bothered to look for ones that don't use the recoil term. Some nothing at all.

When I want to buy something and I'm not clear on a point I just email the seller and ask. Almost always get a helpful reply.

I've only ever had 1 bad experience online, and that was from a website that looked very convincing, but the guy running wasn't interested in selling anything, several people allegedly reported him. Luckily it wasn't a huge amount of money I lost. On this occasion, I just suck it up and move on, I've bought wrong stuff in the past but I have rarely returned it.

Just recently I bought the wrong soldering iron tips for my gun, I just shrug it off and maybe i'll find someone who needs the spare bits I've got. I know full well it's my own fault so there's no point in crying over spilt drink.

I do sell stuff online as well, there's guy who bothers me every few months for some machined bits, but he never pays so I refuse to deal with him. I already let him off once, but twice is too much.

For every case, I have been tripping over myself to make sure everything is alright for the customer, I pride myself on having never had a case of bad feedback, if this guy is anything like me, I understand why a user error would p*** him off.

If anyone is fed up reading endless posts that seemed to be researched by the member as the post continues do as I did, use the Ignore member from the menu at the bottom of one of his posts, job done.

It won't prevent quotes from his/her posts by others appearing but these are fast becoming less.

Make sure you are always logged in or they will certainly appear, whichever topic you are in !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally would not leave negative feedback in that situation - they presumably accepted the return. Problem just needed sorting out. Only -ve if it is not sorted, or -ve removed at that stage

Now, if, (as I suspect) this tube was far cheaper than the alternatives, alarm bells should have been ringing, leading to an enquiry before purchase. Especially if the description was not crystal clear. Assuming is so often wrong.

'Choice words'? That may be asking for trouble in itself, so it seems that you may have only got what you deserved.

Perhaps an item number might be good. We could all comment much more sensibly if we were to know more precisely the gripe. There are often two sides to a story.

My question is : Was the seller a store that deals with pneumatics as a business or just one of those stores that seem to sell bits of everything from trinkets to tools ?

When i'm searching for something on EBay i narrow it down as far as possible with the filters and then check out each seller looking for negative comments , their positive score etc .

After that i look at sellers other items and if i find they sell beads , toys or other junk that indicates they are a discount store / dollar shop i go looking elsewhere .

One thing i find i have to do is check their location by clicking on their store name as a lot of sellers state local stock or located in your country ( i get the AU,AU thing here in Australia ) but by clicking their store name it takes you to their feedback list and usually next to the store name it will tell you where they are based and how long they have been an eBay member

I can't tell you how many times i have found listings with locations listed As in Australia but found they are based overseas so you never know where it ships from .

I don't blame the seller for not wanting to sell you anything else , you should have contacted them when you found the size was not what you expected as they may have offered to exchange it for the correct item if they have it or sometimes they will let you return the item ,

Ripping some one a new "A" hole will get you nowhere fast and it is up to you the buyer to do the research before you fork out your money !

Any seller or buyer can be defined by how they deal with a problem. Posting negative feedback without trying to resolve the issue with the seller is the mark of a tw*t and I for one wouldn't have any hesitation in blacklisting anyone who did so. You reap what you sow...
