Very sad news. I met John once, sparred with him a little here, he did some machining for me, always very interesting contributions. He will be greatly missed, commiserations to Debs and all his family and friends.

Very sad to hear this, he was one of those great guys who was an encyclopedia of engineering knowledge. I remember when I first started model engineering, and training to be an engineer, there seemed like a vast array of knowledgeable and experienced people to look up to. The older and wiser I got, the more idols became equals and team mates, but there are a select few who are still way up at there, and John was certainly one of them in my eyes.

A great loss to the community, and to his friends and family. My thoughts go out to all.

For once I haven't got much to say.

John appreciated the good wishes of forum members.

It's going to be quiet around here.

RIP John.

I've just seen this - I'm sorry to hear of John passing away. I've enjoyed his posts, I felt I knew hi, though of course I didn't. A great loss.

My commiserations to his family.

There must be so many people like myself who never met him but benefitted from his skills. He has left a great gap in the collective knowledge base.

Deepest sympathies to his family.

Gordon.

Bloody, bloody, bloody Hell!!! Never met face to face, unfortunately, but thoroughly gutted by that bit of Monday morning news. One of those few who are truly irreplaceable. Thank you, Ketan, for carrying the burden of keeping us updated and deep sympathy to you - I suspect this is going to hit you even deeper than the rest of us.

A genuinely, genuinely helpful guy and such a dry sense of humour that never failed to make me smile.
John was never slow at jumping to my defence when I started in this job at first. For that I'll always be grateful.

RIP John. Hope you've found peace ...
