![]() 203 forum posts 69 photos | I have to agree with Keith now MEW and ME are both covering the same topics it makes taking out a single subscription for one or the other just silly as you can bet your bottom dollar the series that you are most interested in will be in the other, best to just keep checking WH Smith. |

498 forum posts 9 photos | C'mon guys, you are bleating and moaning about something you have no control over and never will have. Diane herself has control over if it is published or not, nothing else. It is not hers to give away to another magazine. The only person who has that control is the Author no one else. The only question you can answer is would you like to see it published, yes or no.That was the question Diane asked originally, not where. |

![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | David, I think it would be valid to have a model in MEW as an instructional article on machining, work holding, marking out, and the use of hand tools, some beginners know nothing of any of this, and if there were something they could follow in practice, this would be a great help. 1023 forum posts 30 photos | David (as in DC1) - I think Ian S C's suggestion is great, a lot of articles can be made of what he suggests, and it would be of great use and interest to engineers who, whilst not novices in the engineering field, have never had to make stuff in the workshop, as well as for beginners to the hobby. Sorry not to have commented on Ian's suggestion before, have only just come across this thread again, Chris |

![]() 2314 forum posts 139 photos | Ian & Chris A few tortured clickings from my aged brain -- didn't (Harold Hall?) write a series in MEW on machining the Stuart Turner 10V and 10H some years ago? If I'm right the objective, I think, was to demonstrate the various machining set ups. Again a hazy memory but I have a feeling that there was some negative comment on running "model construction" articles in MEW. If my memory is correct then I didn't agree with the detractors at the time and I don't now. What could be more helpful to the beginner than someone who knows demonstrating the way of going about making the model? The processes involved with small models are just the same as other projects but maybe smaller in size and a bit more fiddly. As with all things balance is important so I can't see why anyone should object to a degree of model input. Equally some "workshop specific" content in ME is OK by me too. Norman |

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | I think it would be interesting to see if a series could be done that bridged the gap between the two magazines. Different aspects in each mag, and written so that they stand alone, but those reading both magazines see the whole picture. We have seen a little of this with a build in ME and information about technical aspects of machining or casting in MEW. Neil |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Diane, Is this still on your roadmap for ME or has it been shelved due to all of the naysayers? If nothing else is going to happen, could you at least put some outline details of the machine and its builder in an upcoming magazine. Regards Graeme |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | It has been some time since this thread was last updated and now at least we have a taster of what the machine looks like in the Vertex thread John, I have to congratulate you on what looks to be a terrific machine. Was this based on anything commercial ? Diane, is there any likelyhood of this being published in ME in the near future. |

![]() 3357 forum posts 112 photos 10 articles | I think it should be in MEW as it will probably attract a wider readership. Non model engineers would probably be more interested than model engineers but the interested model engineers could buy MEW for this series while non model engineers would be far less likely to buy Model Engineer for one article of interest. |

1058 forum posts 16 photos | Will you all stop harping on about which magazine you think this should be in!! Diane was canvassing to see if she should publish it not which mag it goes in. If it doesn't go in ME we may never see it. If you are interested, then you can buy the odd copy of ME to follow this particular series if you don't subscribe. |
