I remember getting up early to watch it in black and white.. ghostly TV footage, and the "still photo's " upon their return were stunning for a kid...But the radiation...perfect photo's taken with thick gloves...should there have been clouds of dust when they landed...? |

Main reason out of the many thousands of people that NASA employed at the time somebody somewhere would have blown the whistle on their death bed. Also independent nations have photographed in high resolution from moon orbiting satellites the landing sites. Nick |

![]() 2052 forum posts 56 photos | I think a little bit of scepticism is actually good for this topic, I don't see it as an attack on whether it happened or not, the people who originally thought of these questions about conditions up there were genuinely just curious people. I don't believe it was a cover up, simply because it would be far harder to keep everyone quiet about it and the complexity of the operation would be far more an enormity than the actual reality of going there itself. Think about all the "projects" for components they'd need for the equipment to go up there, fake that as well? it's just getting silly at that point. Yep, absolutely happened, if they chose a planet much further away then the scope for criticism would be much much greater, but as we can visibly see most of the moon, is it really that hard to believe we went there? You've seen the kind of gaffes the government gets itself into, and could you really believe they'd be competent enough to pull off a hoax as big as that? The Russians would have a field day if they got wind of it. Michael W |

I worked on the Apollo program in the 60's and 70's but there are security issues involved in this topic so I cannot comment further. |

See Lunar Laser Ranging experiment. There was some muttering about pulling the funding a few years back, after all it had been running for a long time. regards Martin |

74 forum posts 19 photos | What everyone seems to forget is that the transmissions from the lunar modules were picked up all over the world by radio societies and amateurs and that when the USA was on the other side of the world from the moon, transmissions to and from the modules were relayed via stations in Europe and Australia. Plus of course the Russians would have been tracking the modules to ,from and on the moon. If you can only receive the transmissions by pointing your high-gain aeriel at a point in space somewhere between earth and the moon, then you can be pretty sure that there's something there. If the Russians were convinced that they occurred, which don't forget represented a huge loss of face for them, then how can any intelligent person claim that they didn't. |

![]() 2929 forum posts 41 photos | The Moon does not give us a lot, I doubt there is any profit in mining there. samples of rock reveal many things and I believe the evidence both photographic and actual. The engineering and manufacturing of capsules and equipment boosted US Industry quite a bit. I have often thought that the recovery of what was left there would be profitable but far beyond any ones reach. Remember the Ruski's also sent a rover there. Never did hear or see much about it though. At least we know it is not cheese. Clive |
