Don't tell me, the digital watch is an anachronism?

... anachronism?

.

Is that intended as a horological pun, Neil ?

He may be left handed...in which case the watch is on the correct hand for lefties... most of them, & it will read the correct way... I've just tried it with mine. Some right handers wear their watches this way too... personal preference.

I used to wear my watch on right wrist when I worked as Electrician, it was common practice, saved belting the thing with a club hammer. Dave

....The "mistake" is that he is wearing a wrist watch at all.

.......If he was a 'real' machinist he would have removed any jewellery before starting the lathe.

If you re keen on spotting mistakes try the latest Radio Times where someone is banking on Australia winning the Eurovision song contest.

And even further off-topic, if we exit, will we no longer be able to enter this silly farce? If so, I might change my mind about voting.

PS my postal MEW hasn't arrived yet ...

To be fair isn't isn't really very intrusive and it looks similar to a casio and i don't think it's really dangerous considering the size of the machinery and the fact it's a treadle machine, i think it's always appropriate to remember the context, the people who wrote the rules of health and safety always meant for it to be applied only where neccessary. They never expected it to be applied in such a blanket fashion and always mindful of the context.

I don't get MEW but is a digital watch a bit out of place with a treadle lathe, probably a pocket watch would be the time piece of choice.

It might be wrong to wear rings and such but its up to each and everyone of us to use our common sense and weigh up the risks. Sadly most people these days haven't got any and relie on others for their safety and then sue if it goes wrong. Just my two pence worth.

I'm not convinced the watch was what Jim had in mind, knowing more about the picture than most.

Should have warned me about the treadle lathe. Could have bought one then let its value double on the day MEW comes out. Atleast so I am told that is how I managed to double my money on that Adept lathe a while back.

It's not easy to tell, but ... is that Perspex [or similar] that he's turning ?

Tim,

Eurovision nothing to do with EU, started by the European Broadcasting Union.

<no campaigning, please - either way>

It's not moving on mine yet. How long do you have to stare at it for?

Anyone got a clue what the OP is on?
