![]() 101 forum posts 14 photos | Hi All,
I have been thinking that a useful facility for Model Engineers would be an area where people can upload, share and download machinery manuals - more for the older machine tools, bridgeports and the like - I now have most of the ones I need, but knowing how much searching some of these took, it would be good to share these for others in the same position.
My question is would other people be interested in this, and also if there are copyright reasons why this would not be possible?
Maybe as an area on this site, or set up on a seperate website?
What are your thoughts?

I have two Warco machines, lathe and mill but not a 600, but neither manual is copyrighted. I would add here that it would be a damn cheek to copyright either as they are both rubbish manuals. I agree that a manual section would be useful and further up the profile of this website. Derry. |

44 forum posts 27 photos | Best thing about the 'Manuals' for my Warco mill and lathe are that they give you a good laugh. It's not that information is 'lost in translation' it's that nobody at Warco hasn't even tried to translate them into meaningful English. Let alone add some useful information to them like oils or adjustments. However, you are most welcome to share them with me and I would willing upload them. |

147 forum posts 1 photos | Derry, My Warco manual has no apparent copyright marks but the manual from Grizzly is copyright 2008. I downloaded it with no problems. Out of interest the Grizzly manual is 96 pages and includes things like a very detailed instruction on resetting the head bearings to get the preload correct. |

125 forum posts | I've spoken over the phone and on visits with a couple of people at Warco and they knew their stuff. Sad then that they don't write their own manuals, it only has to be done once for each machine. Think of the kudos they would achieve. I used to occasionally produce technical documents for my company (I am now retired) and I would rather have died than send out what Warco do, come to that I think my boss would have personally killed me if I had!! Still, a good idea of James though, at times any manual is better than no manual. Derry. |

Both are a mine of information and have a libary of manuals, also the groups are subscribed by people who also use these machine.

![]() 1946 forum posts 179 photos | I agree with Philip, Many of the user groups on Yahoo have archives for manuals etc. As well as those mentioned by Philip there is the 9x20 mini-lathe user group and others. I believe that there is also a Myford user group but I've never bothered with that one ![]() Also many of the lathes and milling machines sold by Warco are generic Chinese lathes which are badge engineered for retailers at source Many of those lathes are also sold by Grizzly in the US with different labels. Grizzly have an archive of their user manuals free to download in pdf format on their website (unlike most UK traders who haven't yet come across the term 'Customer Service' and would be extremely confused by such a concept, but prefer to squeeze as much blood out of the stone as possible). Edited By Terryd on 10/06/2011 10:37:15 I must agree, thank goodness for Grizzly. I bought a Warco s/h without a manual. Now I have Grizzly one. Thanks for the tip. Chris |

![]() 4318 forum posts 291 photos 1 articles | Derry, Under UK copyright law all published material is copyright unless it is explicitly waived. You don't need to mark it as such. This is why we aren't as badly plagued by the (c) (r) TM symbols as the Americans! The answer to copyright issues is simple in the age of the internet - just post a link to the legitimate source of the manual! Neil |
