47 forum posts 18 photos | My Workshop is called the 'Playpen'. Consequently when I'm there I'm Playing. "I'm going out to play" is frequently heard in our house. But then many would say I've yet to grow up.

............sometimes just sitting weighing up what comes next and maybe browsing a technical book or something, no agenda. I do that too, but in the study. I call it design. Andrew |

![]() 1494 forum posts 403 photos | I am a great believer in making/planning something in my head well before the real fettling starts so I like to call it "pondering". My most fruitful "pondering" is not in the workshop though but in bed between waking up and rising. It never used to be that way but at my age I am content with a little cogitation. Rik |

Sometimes I just like to hang out in the place where I make stuff, sometimes just sitting weighing up what comes next and maybe browsing a technical book or something, no agenda. I used to feel I had to occupy every waking moment, but the inevitable burn out occurred and now I like to just simply do nothing sometimes. Good ideas come when you're resting and the creative brain gets to work. I remember a friend who had a shed, and sometimes he'd come out every now and then like a badger sniffing the air. +1 for me too; sometimes I look for inspiration... but quite often I think the man cave gremlins have abducted it. George.

Also plays a major part in my time; bought this recently, to put in the man cave although at the moment it hangs on the 'study' ( spare box room ) door ... Just about sums it up these days. George. |

109 forum posts | I've been thinking about a product that I'd like to run past 'The Dragons'. The kit I have in mind consists of :- 1 x pre soiled overall, 1 x bottle synthetic sweat, (incl. small amount of synthetic blood for sympathy purposes) 1 x stick on oil smudges, 1 x 'Sounds Busy' CD 4 hours long (various engineering sounds - machinery, hammering, industrial swearing &c) This package could be used when a chap just wants a contemplative few hours to him self without mucking up any machinery or breaking sweat and thus avoid any accusations of 'hiding in the workshop' Guy |

If not making something I call it tidying up or sorting out ready for the next burst of energy I have just nearly finished tidying up ready for my next project then it will be "He's in the Garage making another mess", I will actually be pondering/pottering. Martin P |
