Lost and Found

I knew that I had a nearly full bag of cable tie bases but, after a few days looking, I had given up on finding them. Since I was passing Toolstation this morning (other shops are available), I dropped in to get a new bag. When I got home, I found the old bag on the table next to the cupboard that my jacket lives in...

me and ex once spent afternoon turning place over to find something did same got new one.

and what was first thing we found upon getting home?

I once spent a good five minutes wandering around looking for a particular screwdriver, only to realise that I was holding it in my hand!

I now have 2 bending springs as I couldn't find my first one, it was hiding on the hook that I installed to hang it on.

A guy I work with spent ages waiting for his wife to pick him up from work. He didn't have a mobile back then so he took the bus home, smashed open the front door and gave his missus a mouthful of foul mouthed abuse for not coming to get him as usual.

"But you drove this morning?"

I bet none of you lot have misplaced a car...

That certainly trumps my “spare” bag of cable tie bases!

I suppose I,m not too bad after all. I have managed to lose/misplace a few spanners and my 6" rule. I know they are there somewhere,but where?. Will the ever turn up again before I go and buy new ones?

Who knows ! I was going to suggest forming a club,but I see there is already one in existence.

I once drove to Chorley from Bolton ( I usually go by bus ) caught the bus back and only remembered when I got to Horwich and had to get a bus back to pick the car

Left my car in the shop car park at the top of the street,walked home with the shopping, got up the next morning and thought it had been stolen!

Couldn't find chuck key. Tried usual technique of tidying up but to no avail. Phoned friend who had been in and accused him (in jest) of hiding/stealing it. He called round and within 5 seconds said "you mean this chuck key" - sitting in full view on shelf at side of lathe. Well seen I had my 77th birthday last week!

While in the army I often had to go to Carlisle from Catterick, looking for parking I parked up and went about my business and when completed went find the car. No way could I find it as all the streets look the same in Carlisle. It took quite a methodical search to find street by street, boy was I relieved as i had only had it new a couple weeks.

In my later years of employment I was talking to a work colleague on my mobile phone discussing the job I was about to embark on. As I was about to enter the workplace I checked that I had everything with me that I could possibly need for the job in hand. I suddenly went quiet and when he asked me what was wrong, I said that I could not find my phone!!!

Thankfully we are now both retired!

I came out of Tesco once and went over to my vehicle and put the key in the boot to put in some shopping

It wouldn't open

So I pulled heaved and twisted at the key then started punching the lock with the heel of my hand while trying to open it, I got quite insistent and forceful, banging it hard

After a minute or so of this I stopped for a breather and looked around

This was when I spotted my car in front of my car, someone had parked exactly the same model behind my motor

Luckily there was no one about and I scarpered off ASAP

Early '70s I was doing visits in a Morris Traveller with a large amount of drugs including a lot of opiates. I pulled into a pub for lunch, locked up and went in. When finished I came out, unocked and drove away. About a mile down the road as i glanced into the rearview mirror I was shocked to find the cargo was completely gone.

There was nowt for it but drive back to the pub , ring police and I shuddered to thing how I was going to explain myself. As I pulled back into the pub carpark.. my car was there with the load intact. Phew.

Fords being cheapo, My Escort key would open my Sons Cortina, asking about it seems Ford only used about 6 different locks over their range. My Escort was stolen one night and recovered the next day and they caught a lad who had a bunch of keys. It seems they would go pubbing and to get home steal the nearest car that one of the keys would fit.

I walked into the house from the garage and said to my wife, waving the screwdriver in front of her, have you seen this, I cant find it anywhere. When I went back out she was dialling 999

I must be exceptionally bad with cars. First lost the car in a multistorey carpark in Bristol (how was I to know you didn't enter on the ground floor) took about an hour to find it. I've also walked home from work after driving in, thought the car was nicked from the drive until SWMBO put me right. And in the late 70 got in my Cortina parked in the high street only to realise as I checked the mirror to pull out that I didn't have fluffy dice hanging from the mirror my proper car was parked two down in the street. Don't you feel so guilty when you realise.
