I need to test the online survey system.

I have put together a very simple one-question survey, just a list of tools that you can 'tick'.

It would be a great help if a decent number of forum members could take part. If I get more than a few, I'll share the results.

The survey is (hopefully!) here: www.model-engineer.co.uk/members/survey.asp?s=15

Thanks in advance.

Neil

OK I have ticked some boxes and hit save. Where do I see the results?

They might appear on your profile...

I'm trying to figure out where they all go - that's the point of the test...

I have a feeling I may need to start a 'poll' rather than a survey to get results that can be shared.

cool

Ah, yes I can see what I typed in settings when I am logged in. A poll sounds more useful they usually appear at the top of a thread and everyone can see the results. That's if this forum software works that way!

Sorry folks - I am not seeing the compiled results

If you tick a box in your profile, you can make the results visible to others (if you have a public profile).

But it doesn't compile the results for me

Back to the drawing board...

Done the survey. Results stored in a new "choice" in Settings.

Well that's useful. I can look at a list of my own equipment to remind myself whether not I have a mill. How thoughtful of the forum to help out my Alzheimer's if I can just remember who I am I can check out my list.

The survey doesn't close after you enter your choices

I put 50 shaper user entries in

Neil, If this is for what I think it is then a Poll will probably not be what you want as the result of the winner should not be made public until you announce it. Maybe do a test poll too to see what people can see.

maybe there is somewhere in the software that a moderator can look at survey results?

Greetings Neil,

one thing that your survey does not do is ask the number of, say lathes, a person has.

the results may be of interest.

Brian

Well JB,

That is certainly the way to get more responses - a prize, as well as being a winner?

All, this is a test, as no-one has ever used this function before.

It's clearly of little real value, but thanks at least for trying.

Please try the test poll instead.

OK, that works but I want a confidential poll...

I think I will use www.easypolls.net

We may as well let the tool preference test above run!

Thanks everyone.

Yes it is, I've found an on-line tool that will do the job, but it's a shame we can't use the built in systems
