Took my Black 5 to Rugeley track today and Ran it at last. I did ten laps of our 1/2 mile track. I had to use hand pump to get water into boiler Clack would not seal so injector far to hot to work would not pick up. But so nice nice to drive it.

Great result, Ron. Like many others, I have been quietly sympathising with you for the difficult journey you've had with this loco. Shame about the clack valve but the end is now truly in sight. Well done on achieving today's drive at Rugely. emotion

Regards, Steve

Well done Ron, we've all been watching your ups and downs with the loco, and feeling your frustration.

Hope you have many happy days with it now

Yes, well done Ron!

(I should perhaps add that Ron hasnt received and fitted the batch of commercial inline check valves I sorted out last weekend for him due to a delay in the post).

Cheers,

Julian

Hi Julian but just think how brilliant it will be when I fit them and can run with injector and axle pump working. Can't wait to drive it again.

Thank you again for all your help Julian

Excellent result Ron, I have followed your trials and tribulations through this build. Well done and I hope she performs even better when you fit the clack valves Julian has sorted out. Many happy hours of steamingsmiley.

Congratulations! It's been a long haul and there have been times I wished I could just 'transport' to your shop and help with those never ending problems. I'm still very confused about why all the issues with the clack valves; new ones, old ones, first they seal then they don't...... aaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!

When you get the ones from Julian installed we do want to know the outcome!!

Happy steaming,

Pete

Ron, next time you steam it post up beforehand. I am only six miles away and would love to come over and watch.

If possible I would bring the 1929 BSA.

Super news Ron. Thanks for fighting through and sharing the details. Well done you!

Julian should be 'Mentioned in Dispatches' too - excellent.

Best wishes,

Dave
