“Confabulated, always!”
Retired a couple of years ago from a long career doing engineering work. Started making/repairing things at a young age and just kept going. Did a stint as a research tech. in high energy physics, spent some time in machine shops, became a journeyman weldor in all processes, a fabricator in most materials, draftsman (before 'puters!) , mechanical designer, engineering manager, manufacturing engineering manager..... had a great time and was blessed with having mentors who weren't afraid to teach the new guy the ropes. Did some logging, mining and heavy equipment operation in there somewhere also.
Now I work around our acre and a half, garden, sail, do some woodworking and a lot of time is spent in getting the machine shop where I want it. There is always some machine needs tweeking, or a tool or fixture needs building, as well as the projects.
