682 forum posts 337 photos | Hi, Ive noticed that this topic regarding access to the above site has appeared on here a few times. But can anyone tell me if the site is still going and why i cant access it from my computer or laptop also tablet. I get nothing but warnings about phishing site and even if i disable the antivirus it still wont load. I can see glimpses of recent entries on their site in google searches. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks |

I`ve had this site bookmarked for many years and access has always been fine up till now. Maybe John has forgotten to pay the rent or gone on holiday or it might be windose 10 playing silly buggers. 1395 forum posts 30 photos | one classic reason for inability to access is that your ISP has either deliberately or accidentally set the wrong DNS entry (the UK is beginning to force this to protect minors etc - I'll avoid making the obvious connection with censorship) - one easy way is to set the DNS provider in your router to 8.8.8.8 which is Google - there are other possibly better options but just checked that this works here on IoM |

10668 forum posts 2415 photos | Hi Mark, Three things to try: Try powering your router down and, after a minute or so, powering it back up again. Routers cache addresses and confusion abounds if they get corrupted as mine did during our last thunderstorm. A full reset causes the router to clear the cache and start again with a clean slate. As you have three different machines with the same fault, I think a router problem is the most likely suspect. Disabling your virus checker won't help if web checking is being done by another software package, even if it is from the same vendor. You might have to look closely at your security set-up to find out what's blocking the site. Related to point two, I tried to find out what the IP address of the site was to see if it could be called directly. The address is 212.48.75.22 but the website can't be accessed using it. I don't know if it's a security feature at their end or to do with the way the service is made available by their provider. I don't believe it's sinister, but the peculiarity may be upsetting your security software. If so try switching it off or using another product. Good luck, Dave |

1395 forum posts 30 photos | there is no longer a 1:1 relationship between IP addresses and websites - eg Cloudfront uses this to require the Chinese Great Firewall to block many sites (including those used by many of their engineering companies) in order to block the to-them politically undesirable - maybe the same is being imposed by your ISP |

Spoke to son about it ( he has over 20 years experience on puters & systems) & he had a quick look and said its not you Dad its at the other end so he`ll have a look at it tomorrow. (The footie is on & he`s a fan then its of to pub). Let you know what the outcome is. Alan Edit I have cleared my cache Edited By Flying Fifer on 10/06/2016 21:59:36 |
