A stereo card [hand-made, with real photographic prints] that I picked-up at the flea market in Tynemouth. Maybe we could build a collection ? MichaelG.

I have no idea what you are talking about!! # . This might help ... and, if you have an iPad or similar; pinch-zoom until the image spacing matches the separation of your eyes. MichaelG.

brilliant. If you stare at it and go crosseyed it actually forms a stereo image between the two pics. Technically, I believe it's presented as a "wall-eyed" stereo view rather than a cross-eyed view though I think you are probably using the term generically. In a wall-eyed stereo view, the left view is on the the left and the right view on the right. At normal viewing distance you need to turn the eyes outward slightly from their normal geometry at that distance (so they are more or less parallel instead of the normal slight turn-in at that distance). In a cross-eyed stereo view, the left image is placed on the right and the right image on the left. Then you do have to view them in an exaggeratedly cross-eyed manner. I've never been able to do cross-eyed viewing successfully but have always been able to do wall-eyed (for reasonable separations). It's getting harder with age though. |

863 forum posts 104 photos | Your focus point should be behind the computer screen. If you move the web browser and picture up to the top of your screen then focus on your hand, held slightly behind then bring your gaze down, you might be able to see it. I actually see three locos with the 3D effect being in the middle. ...I haven't been drinking! |

Much easier to see on the preview than the full-size images. Neil, As I mentioned earlier ... the optimum size should be that which makes the image spacing match your interocular distance. MichaelG. |

If UK - but refer to posting by Rik Shaw above at 18:01:37 suggesting French origin: The headcode the locomotive is carrying: two white diamonds, one centrally, one on right upper position would conform with a LSWR locomotive routed: Salisbury, Southampton West & Portsmouth via Netley. Refer No:24 here: **LINK**
However the locomotive appears to be additionally carrying a single lamp in the left upper position. (May indicate number 44 on the schema.) Further to my earlier posting don't think that Highland Railway used 'routing indicators' of this type.
Might be worth considering LSWR locomotives??
The large cab-front 'look-outs' are quite distinctive, and the lining appears to be a lighter colour surrounded by a darker colour. The boiler hand-rail running over the top of the smokebox-front and sand-boxes built into and ahead of front driving splashers might help identification. Certainly looks like a 4-4-0 wheel configuration.
