If folk have trouble seeing it, can't they just follow Jason's links?

.

Yes ... and we confirmed that they were GOOD

Constructive observations were also made, in the hope of making the forum a better place ... is that out-of-order?

Hi, I saw most of what Jason took photos of today, but I was also impressed by this mosaic made with square Lego bricks fitted onto square Lego base boards.

img_0017 (1024x768).jpg

It consisted of about 11 boards high by about 13 boards wide and each board was put together by children following a printed out picture and they were encouraged/helped by their parent/s. The picture was no doubt created on a computer by an adult/s and was in connection with an organization called Fairy Bricks, who brighten the lives of sick children through Lego.

img_0016[1] (1024x768) (684x512).jpg

In fact I thought it a good thing to see many children there actively doing different practical things rather than playing on a mobile phone, even watched one child for a while having a go on one of the ornamental turners machines.

Also got most things that I wanted from various trade stands.

Regards Nick.

Post is too wide.

Mmm! Perhaps you were having a bad day but you could have said something just a little less blunt.

Jason took the trouble to post his photos for us all to see and a thank you before criticising would have been better.

Thank you Jason - please carry on and ignore this kind of bigoted comment.

Well done Jason - thanks for the photos - there is no chance of me getting to a show any time soon and this record brought to mind all those past expeditions! I think you made a good job of capturing the atmosphere and, in view of the difficulties which I well know exist for getting good detail in exhibition conditions, made a fair job of of showing some of that too.

FWIW, I don't have an Ipad and can see the pictures fine on my Surface Pro. smiley

I went to the show on Friday and felt it was slightly 'flat' compared to previous years. There seemed to be fewer club stands, as well as fewer traders, but I managed to get (mostly) what I went for and even got a bargain new 100mm 4 jaw self-centering chuck on a Myford backplate for only £40, so went home happy!

Hi Clive India I was not complaining about the wide post, merely mentioning it so a moderator can sort it out. Where you got the idea this was a bigoted post from I can't imagine. I enjoyed looking at the photos.

Went on Sunday after a gap of a few years didn't, seem as good as it used to be . Still bought a flexidisk sander kit and some brass tube from noggin metals was going to buy a proxxon mill drill system but SM tools did not have any.

Got some opal flexible glass sheet from r n r aluminium good buy should be flexy damn iPad reductive text. Or is it plexy .

Thought £4.50 for a pint of beer in the bar was ott, but the nice lady at noggin metals gave me £5 discount

Must get out to the workshop and get on with my unfinished projects ho hum

Sam - know the feeling. Apparently there was a big boy chassis hiding from me in there somewhere. Quite a few people I saw at the CMRA model railway show on Sat and Sun had already been to this show the day before.

Had a very good steak pie with lots of real meat & two veg for under a fiver in the exhibitor's café.

Did anyone notice the Axminster CNC mill at £12 grand? How does it compare with the Tormech which I believe is closer to £7 grand? Ok, can't afford either but it's interesting to see something like that at a hobby show.

Actually better value than a Tormach.

For 7K you don't get a tool changer or servo motors and if you do fit the tool changer it uses the Tormach Tooling system with 3/4" shanked straight cutters. By the time you add the tool changer plus shipping and import duty you are well over 12K.

The Sieg machine also has a better tooling system although BT20 isn't a popular taper.

One thing I don't like about the Sieg machine and this could go a long way in schools and colleges is the power drawbar requiring air to hold the cutter in. Can't see how that can get by CE and H&S ?

Sounds a bit back to front if the tool depends on an air supply for tool retention, agree with John certainly not a safe method, even with the enclosure in place.

Now that is a loco that demands a decent sized coal shovel!

If you built that Neil it would use that much coal you would be able to get a bath sooner wink

Westinghouse brakes come to mind. Only a problem if you have a massive air leak.

Thanks for the pictures HT. I did see that but wasn't thinking that big by an order of magnitude.
