54 forum posts 3 photos | I have been watching his stuff for a while now and would second this as being interesting viewing. The best part of his videos, for me, are that he shows how he sets things up - centering, indicating, adjusting. These are the pieces that most videos take for granted and that us beginners really need to see. He is a very versatile builder and it is inspiring to watch him work.

![]() 1377 forum posts 133 photos | Hi All Yes one of the best video series on the net. Keith Fenner runs a jobbing shop on Cape Cod USA. there are over 200 videos. He uses conventional machines, Lathe's and Mills mostly from the fifties, The work is mainly repairing and rebuilding bits of other machinery, boats and heavy vehicles. Have a look at some of the welding videos mostly with Tig... real skill. I wish I had Tig facilities. The only high tech is a small CNC plasma cutter. I think he built it himself. "Get Err Done"

1049 forum posts 1 photos | Hi S. If you like Keith's videos you might also like the ones that a young lad in one of the former soviet republics has posted on YT. He goes by the nom de video of FactoryDragon87 and if you want to see some real engineering start with his latest series **LINK**. If you think Keith has a "get'er done" attitude, you will be delighted by FD87's attitude to work and hopefully delighted that there is somewhere in the world where a youngster is getting into proper engineering not just "mouse wrangling" like they want to do here. Enjoy chriStephens PS I wish my son had a similar attitude to enterprise, but then even if he did he would not have the H&S freedoms that seem to prevail in that part of the world, what a shame! |

1049 forum posts 1 photos | Hi Ady, You tube is often better than a nights TV, but there is also some awful dross. There are lots of videos put up to show off to the world their new found skill at some simple task that unfortunately is not yet fully understood by the presenter. A typical example is someone who has learnt, or so he thinks, to screw thread but sets the top slide at completely the wrong angle, there are at least two showing this faux pas. One of them even puts a line on the screen to guide others(since corrected I believe) to follow his lead!!
Still, we can't all be perfect, can we? chriStephens |

368 forum posts 7 photos | Hello all, what fantastic videos from FactoryDragon87 !. Brings back memories for me, because a few years ago I had to do a similar job , ie, split a Valmet forwarder in half, incidently a Valmet 860 which was a bigger beast altogether with similar bearing damage. Two 8 inch bearings had broken. However, the machining work was carried expertly out by someone else, on a massive DSG lathe. I just had the job of fitting it all back together !. I believe the forwarder was sold a few years later to someone in the Soviet Union, with a cracked crane base to boot. Oh happy days !!. Cheers. |

I really rate this guy, far better than those overpriced crap DVD's sold by Jose Rodregas who can't even get the value of Pi right.

He has a VG video series called 'Sunday night nightcap' uploaded every Sunday night; he has so far produce 97 of them & last week he was wondering how to celebrate his 100th posting, I think he's putting together a video on a lot of his outtakes in which his commentary, & language, is quite colourful & often hilarious, he covers a lot of stuff, lathe work, milling work, welding & casting, all self taught, A vehicle mechanic by trade he has / does some excellent work, I watch him every week.
