Martin I have had a boiler on order with Cheader Valley Steam since September 2010 and an approx delivery date of 52 weeks.

I managed to talk with Tim at the Bristol model engineering show back in August/Sept last year when he told me that my boiler was getting close to the top of his list, and he would be in touch soon.

I am still waiting and have also been unable to contact him.

Paul.

Paul, thanks for the reply, when I last spoke to Tim, probably in October he said that the copper was on the bench ready for Monday morning!!

Given that every trader in any line of business who takes cr cards has already built into the prices of all his wares, paid for by cash or cr/dr card purchasers, the commission costs of the cr card issuer, everyone should use what they are paying for!

1. Pay by cr card so if boiler faulty or not supplied you get your money back from cr card issuer - quote "section 75" to them.

2.When placing order for boiler, ask for guaranteed delivery date then if the keep giving excuses for non-delivery give them a deadline and failure means order cancelled.

As usual, the odd `baddie` brings a harder life upon all the `goodies` but thats life.

Hi There

Only pay with the main card holder card.

If you have a card say on your wifes account, you may not be covered. I beleive that only the main card holder is covered for fraud etc.

Another example of the banks tryibg to wiggle out of their responsibility.

regards David

Oh dear it makes me fell like I had a lucky escape, I steward at the Thornbury exhibition for the 3 days (plus the before and after) took Tim along my drawings for a boiler for my 5"g Springbok and he wrote down all details and said he would get back to me never did. Eventualy created a thread "What does it take for a boiler maker to contact you" was reccomended to Helen Wirral of Western Steam, went down lovely little shop run by 2 ex reeves guyes and Helens workshop in the rear fantastically quirky is the only way I can describe it. Well worth a visit if you are down that way.

Back to thread; I do hope that Tim is not haveing problems as the brief chat I had with him he sounded a nice chap and very knowledgeable.

Hope everything works out for all concerned

Bob

Regarding Davids advice on Credit cards, I would endorse that, I have a M&S card as a 'named holder' on my wifes account. We had to contact them to 'add' me as an insured card holder, no cost involved but it does mean that any transactions I place are covered in the same way as the primary card holder.

This is something that all should be aware of as so called secondary card holders do not always inherit the same priviledges of the primary card holder.

Gents,

Have been trying to contact Tim over the last month. Last spoke to him just before Easter.

My Flying Scotsman 5 inch, boiler was due for delivery Nov 2015, but Tim was having difficulty sealing one tube, this was ongoing for a year. I visited him last Sept, driving down from Scotland, with the balance of payment in my pocket, I seen the boiler but it was still not ready.

At Easter he assured me that it would be ready soon. Since then no contact. Have have paid 50 % deposit when ordered. I suspect he has gone out of business. I anyone can help, would like information on how i could get the incomplete boiler our of his workshop.

I am sorry if he had gone to the wall, he is a nice guy.

My e-mail is "[email protected]".
