I have just joined this forum and I cannot see an "introduce yourself" heading as many forums seem to do. Either there isn't one or I have missed seeing it in the headings.

Hi
As far as I know there isn't one - good idea though.
You could  give your details in your profile which will then appear when anyone clicks on your name in a post -  but most folks don't have one.
Just just jump in and add your comments!

Regards

Norman

Nope, there isn't one, but then again, this isn't a normal forum! I'm not entirely sure what software is being used to provide the forum but it doesn't seem to follow the normal format for this type of environment.
But then again, many of the 'features' of this site are unusual, the digital magazines are another area which many of us have a 'bone of contention' over.

I'm sure, over time these things will be resolved although they should never exist in the first place

Welcome Westyman! Following Coalburner's revelation that this "isn't a normal forum!", I feel you should be forewarned that there is a minimum PPE requirement of a hard hat and bullet proof vest if you intend engaging in opinionated discussions on certain topics. The velocity at which toys are jettisoned from prams is surprising and has been known to cause denting of pride, loss of self-importance and even total sense of humour failure!

I should point out that I comment merely as an observer, feeling far too thick to have an opinion worth expressing when it comes to engineery type discussions. It's surprising what you can learn though just sitting on the fence enjoying the fireworks!

Regards, Martin.

Hi Kerry
Now you have purchased your lath how about makeing a sterling engine or something of that ilk instead of just carving up bits of metal. quote from your profile thats where we introduce ourselves. lets know and we will all help you but with your qualifications you should have no problems.

let us know how you get on.

Bob

I agree with Martin, but I think some people's compuror chair s were made by Martin Baker, a bit upset, and BANG.
And Bob when I got my lathe I started off by making tap wrenches, and die holders. Then as I was still into wood turning I made a dozen each of driving centers for wood lathes in no., 1 and no., 2 morse taper, some plain morse taper centers, and a dozen live (rolling) centers. By then I'd been found by some vintage tractor types, and I started making parts for Lanze tractors, then Willys Jeeps.
Just put a little bit in your profile, it gives us some little idea of who you are, and what you know / don't know. Ian S C

Thanks for all the comments; I have put some stuff in my profile as suggested.

Some nice light-hearted comments made me chuckle. I know some forums can become rather agressive, there are a couple that I have simply not bothered with after a while, they seem populated by folks who think Eastenders is real life.....

Current projects are a model railway in the loft which is a bit of a haul from the workshop in the garage LOL Oh and the garden needs some work too; the house has been neglected since retirement.....always lots to do.

We are away this week on our shared narrowboat, that has a prop at the back and at the front too, just a little one in a transverse tube.....damn windy too today.
