I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer but feel sadly lacking in practical engineering. Perhaps I would have been happier being a time-served machinist!! But I have enjoyed playing with trains for 30+ years!!

I have just acquired a Chester DB7VS lathe with no real idea of anything to make, it's just nice turning off bits of metal!!

I have built a kit-car some years ago and maybe the presence of the lathe would have been useful but managed without.

The ability of some folks just amazes me and I look in awe at models exhibited at shows. A friend of mine built an Alchin, just gorgeous, so envious. Another friend has made several locos they're just wonderful.
