2878 forum posts 248 photos | The current thread on Mystery Object I am finding increasingly distasteful. Here we are with a war in Ukraine, a humanitarian crisis and we have 3 pages on bullet design. Although we stray away from Model Engineering on this forum, I believe the current thread should be closed. We are not a gun club, other sites exist for these discussions and I think that the moderators should close this discussion down. Those in favour, support this thread. Bob |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | No matter the current situation we seem to get this almost every time a firearms thread appears and general consensus is that it is acceptable. Many members here have or do shoot competatively so may legally possess these items and shooting is one of their hobbies. We have international members who's country may have different gun laws and where "gun smithing" is a far bigger hobby than it is in the UK. From the thread images are being posted from the net not images of what someone has in their own possession. I'd say the thread has more place on this forum that the choice of tomato plant, financial surnames or Philosophical maxims Edited By JasonB on 10/03/2022 07:51:01 |

If the content is not of interest to you, or you find it "distasteful", then don't read it or get involved - that the thread has run to 3 pages suggets that others do find it interesting. "Closing the discussion down" will not change the dreadful situation in Ukraine in the slightest. Nigel B. |

We have international members who's country may have different gun laws and where "gun smithing" is a far bigger hobby than it is in the UK. Certainly in the USA gunsmithing would be a more popular hobby than model engineering. It's probably THE major home machineshop activity. Guns don't excite me (Saw enough and heard enough about them when I lived in Zimbabwe) but there is some interesting engineering in them and many of the gunsmithing techniques and tools are downright ingenious and worth knowing about for other use. |

" Its been a while since I perused the firearms act but could anyone direct me to the paragraph concerning empty cases and projectiles? Also, from memory, blank rounds did not need a firearms certificate to hold or purchase when I had my certificate. Dave |

2444 forum posts 139 photos | I think threads should generally be permitted to drop naturally from discussion rather than be closed. I put in several posts on the thread concerned, and I didn't expect to put in more, as it appeared to me that rational discussion of the available evidence had already been exhausted.

May be a good time to remind all that even tea room subjects are meant to have some relation to engineering. So shape of a bullet or design of new pylons ok |

550 forum posts 77 photos | Up until now I've kept out of these type of "should we allow" discussions. But seriously some of you need to man up. This being offended, complaining and wanting things removed because they don't fit your point of view tactic seems to be more and more common in todays day and age. (Especially amongst far left authoritarian types). And it's appalling. Don't read it or grow a thicker skin. It's that easy. |

That is true. But at least those at the other end of the spectrum generally don't give a sh** about what you say, or who to. |
