You need to fix your space ship. What's the go-to tool?

Grab a pair of mole grips!

Ah, but those are SPACE mole grips. Exactly the same as normal mole grips but with a serial number, NSN and a price tag with lots of zeros...

'Gayechnyy klyuch' actually - it's a Roscomos video despite the NASA 'DOG'!

Neil

Hopefully Google translate hasn't put rude words in!

I don't know about Russian moles but Vise Grips and Mole Wrenches release in opposite ways.

Is a space mole similar to a Clanger?

Neil, have you got a link to the video rather than just a .jpg as it is not a very clear image.

True! But a Mole wrench is superior

Never saw Scotty using a mole grip. I expect the Starship Enterprise was made of tinfoil too!

I think they took a Crescent wrench when they went to the moon.

I was quite surprised at the gay abandon with which they were allowing bits of insulation, gold leaf, etc. to fly off into the void. I was under the impression that it was considered to be a bad thing to add to the orbital debris that is zooming around the world.

I seem to remember they 3D printed a spanner on the space station a while ago. Not sure if it was for a special job or just an experiment.

I bet those fancy gloves make working with fiddly things interesting, but at least if you drop something it just floats around. Not so good when you're working outside though.

I think it was a BBC video.

Because the ISS is in a very low earth orbit apparently the debris will slow and burn up very quickly.

they were not mole grips, they were metal shears to cut through the aluminium meteorite shield.

Used with a bit of Gilbow grease no doubt...

What I understand is that the Soviets wanted the area of the hull where recently they found a hole which was leaking air into space.

They are not sure if it is sabotage or something done on Earth during manufacture. So cutting out that hole and bringing it back to Earth.

I wonder how they closed the hole they cut out?

Gafferovsky tape?

Perhaps this is finally the correct time to apply the term " Rocket surgery "
