I ordered the kit in November, and after a few weeks wait for the castings, it arrived in mid-December. I plan to start this in the New Year, but in the meantime here is a picture of the kit unpacked for contents checking. The drawings and instructions are very good, and I'm looking forward to getting started.

Greetings,

I made one of these saws in the early 80's, and it is still in regular use, although my son in Law "Borrowed" it.

It is a very useful machine, and I often sit & watch it cutting material, thinking, "my arm would be aching by now".

good luck with you build.

Regards

Brian

At about 9.15 this morning I could view this photo, now at16.30 I get a message telling me to update my photobucket account. I've never had one. Why ?

Not your Photobucket account Roy, it's poor old Jonathan they want money from.

Photobucket used to host images on the internet for free. Earlier in the year they suddenly started charging for it, causing the message to appear on a gigantic scale across the web. Not surprisingly a lot of their customers are VERY annoyed.

It's safer to publish forum pictures using the forum itself rather than a third-party like Photobucket.

Hmm! I agree avoid these outfit like the plague -- however I to could see the photo earlier but now only the message but I also note that the photo IS available in Jonathan's albums -- why one and not the other ?

“why one and not the other ?”

Because they were both saved as files in different places, but one place wants umpteen quids a year for the privilege, so is blocking any view until they are paid!

I hope that Photobucket charging for their services backfires. I have been inundated with messages from them asking me to take up their generous rates since they made this move which suggests to me they are getting desperate for the business.

They obviously made money before charging for their service but have become greedy.

Probably best to forget PB, well for this forum any way, just transfer direct from your computer photo album.

I suppose the reason Jonathin's photos are still visible in his album is that they are not open to the full forum, ie out here for all to see.

I can't seem to edit my original post, so here is the original photo of the kit parts, now uploaded onto my albums on this site. I have completed the first machining on the drive wheel so far, but have been away on holiday for the last 2 weeks. More to follow.

Looks like a great kit! Very complete. Or is part of what is shown provided by you?

They even provided a cast iron saw blade already mounted in the frame. ...

Hi Jonathan,

I'm watching with interest, as I'm building the same thing. I'm attacking the stuff that can be milled, as I haven't got a lathe yet.

All the best

Mark

The photo shows everything that comes from Hemingway - it is very complete and includes the motor and worm drive gearbox. The castings are all aluminium alloy, so hopefully will be cleaner to machine than cast iron.

Mark, I saw your post - obviously Hemingway hacksaws are like London buses laughlaugh
