Hello Chaps

I am from South africa and will be in Munich in Germany Mid august 2017

I have about a week to Kill and wonder if you chaps could point me to any model eng or engineering shows at about this time.

I enjoy this type of thing and will definitely be visiting the Technological museum in Munich.

I believe there is an excellent museum in the UK and would like to know where it is .

Please give me any info you have-- I will be very grateful as I am looking for places to visit.

Best regards

fred evans

Hi Fred, If you like big steam engines the London Museum of Water and Steam is worth a go. Engines run at weekends.  The Bristol Model Engineering Exhibition is on 18th to 20th August. Depends a bit where in the country you are going to be. Enjoy your visit.

The Deutsches museum is definitely worth a visit and I visited the Red Bull hanger 7 at Salzburg a few years ago, it displays many of Red Bulls f1, aircraft and motor cycle projects.

Fred

You do not say what your interests are and looking at your profile I guess it is everything.

Other than the Science Museum at South Kensington Britain does not have big super museums dedicated, generally, to science and engineering, unlike Germany. However we do have world class smaller museums. I would suggest you try to get a copy of the IMechE's booklet "Engineering Attractions - Visiting Britain's Best Industrial Heritage Sites" which includes many museums. At present it is out of print but the Institution's web site includes details from the booklet including the index to major sites - **LINK**Interestingly the Science Museum is not include.

As for the model engineering show, the Bristol Model Engineering Exhibition, obviously.
