![]() 5068 forum posts 3 photos | Not a 1/4" drive as such I want a hollow ratchet with 1/4" hex hole in it so I can directly drive the 1/4" replaceable screwdriver and allen key tips.
Sure I have seen one but as soon as you type in 1/4" drive you get every socket set supplied by man and beast.
Any clues ??
This is for getting in some real tight spaces.
[EDIT] Got the 1/4" square ratchets where you have an adapter from square to hex but this makes the overall high too great. Edited By John Stevenson on 08/02/2017 22:08:11 |

537 forum posts 88 photos | I've got a couple of Teng ratchets like you are describing, but they come in small sets with a range of 1/4 bits £30 or so, well worth the money,, great quality, lifetime guarantee. They do a couple of variations, but the difference is the bits rather than the ratchets. One of my sets has sockets up to 13mm and a hex to square adapter to mount them to the ratchet.

221 forum posts 12 photos | Hello John, I can recommend this Wera reversible ratchet, sold as a set here but you can get the ratchet for about £20, top quality, as reflected in the price. The overall length of the ratchet is 87mm or 79 mm from the centre of the hex socket to the end of the handle: Regards, Michael |

![]() 2207 forum posts 210 photos | John, I've been using one of these for a while now, quite compact, and got me out of various difficulties.
Mine came from Clas Ohlson in Doncaster for about a tenner, but sadly they've now closed. I should be able to sort you out some close up photos and measurements if you need them, just let me know.
For other readers, these are on offer at Aldi at the moment, probably too big for John's application, bit worth investigating for other uses; I find them quite handy on the motorbikes.

1394 forum posts 103 photos | I use a Wera 8001 1/4" ratchet bit driver, like this : RS Components used to sell them (where I got mine from), but I can't find it now with their hopeless search engine. It is very small, but beautifully made & gets into very confined spaces - it has got me out of trouble on many occasions. Not cheap, but very worthwhile. Nigel B |

![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Neil problem withusing a ratcheting spanner is that don't have any means to retain the screwdriver bit so it either drops out also you can't apply any pressure to it to keep it in the screw head as the spanner just slides along the shank.
