Edited By Hacksaw on 23/12/2016 21:02:22 yes I made a couple of marks in the bit I want milling with a hacksaw .and a file .fairly soft . and it has been used at some time for milling and had a chunk cut out of the front face so it should be fairly easy to machine

A carriage lock is pretty much essential. Nipping up a bit of shim in the lift plate under the rear shear will do at a pinch. |

![]() 608 forum posts 7 photos | Just a thought ... Can you not return and swap it out for one that gives you the correct height for your lathe . I had the same problem just with the tool holders they needed about 3mm off the bottom . I tried a carbide cutter whilst holding the part in the 4 jaw without much success . Ended up using a grinder ,a bit rough I know but needs must and it worked . |

![]() 1808 forum posts 744 photos | . Have you got a 4 jaw chuck and a set of flange jaws for it.? If so you could probably do this yourself providing you were careful with the setup.
