I can no longer access the Homeworkshop site using either Firefox or internet Explorer getting the message "access forbidden" or similar warning.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a fix for the problem?

Had the same trouble last night with Firefox, just got 403 Forbidden, thought it was my lousy computer. Just tried again and it is still the same.

When you see '403 Forbidden', it indicates a coding error or a server error, it's not your browsers or pc's.

Didn't John say on another thread a few days ago he was going to be revamping it shortly. May just be undergoing a derust and rebuild.

Trying index.htm as the default web page I get the following message.

"Issues with our server

We will be back

We have had a few issues with the server that the site runs on and are atempting to fix them as quickly as possible."

Same for me using IE. I was just going to post a thread here but you've beaten me to it.

Gremlins I guess.

No you are not Neil, sent you an email last night - already on site at moment.

Yes there is a problem, small son is working on it and it is server related, hopefully later today or tomorrow at the latest or someone is going to have a thick ear.

Sent from HTC.

i initially had a message saying couldn't obtain something or the other so access denied for safety reasons. Might help.

sadas I run Linux and often use Opera I thought oh no not another internet explorer change. This site isn't very opera friendly either.

If you want a peak at the last known working version (no pictures, thus no email address as they are shown as pictures)

Site is up again

Just found, though, that the email functions aren't working - attempting to get an email for editing an ad gives

"SMTP Error! Could not connect to SMTP host."

and no email comes through...

I attempted to use the form on the site to contact the admins but that gives the same error, hence posting here in the hope that the relevant people will see it .

Many thanks to all involved for their work keeping it up and running.

Pete

Late update:-

Web site all back and running. Site outage was caused by too much traffic.

We moved to a new server, although shared about 5 months ago but it obviously wasn't enough and have moved some sections to another server whilst we look at getting a dedicated server solely for the Homeworkshop adverts site.

Sorry for the outage lads.

I look on there everyday. Bought some bargains over the years inc my Boxford shaper, shipped over here. It was down for about 24 hours. Gone one day, back the next.
