As Steve says apart from the Lynx and Bat the rest just seemed to be page fillers, were they really the 3rd best articles from 100yrs of ME?

The Vertical was really a waste of time, may just as well of had a few pictures of a 10V at least more people could have made that. Thinking of it Harold Halls article on building teh 10 series would be a good future best of article.

Screw Riviter, useful if you can get it in where its needed but as I said earlier still got the errors from 50+ years ago uncorrected

Storage cabinet, not worth the paper it was printed on.

Dean Diesel, a glow engine would have been better given the dificulties of getting model diesel fuel now, lack of castings also a problem though the crancase could be machined from solid a la Ramon.

Thompestone Horizontal, nice and totally buildable without castings, use a Stuart flywheel if need be. Though for a "best of" maybe a Muncaster would have been better and some of tne text seems to be missing.

Hi There

I was overuled on the Muncaster Engines.

What you have to remember is we don't necessarily own the copyright so we can't change the text.

The other thing is I don't have access to unlimited copies of Model Engineer.

regards David

Anyone else still waiting for theirs?

Mine was ordered 30th August. It was shown as having been despatched on 11th September on their site but later changed back to "Pending". So on 23 Sept. I emailed them and got an automated reply from the email system to say the they would reply within two days. Still waiting for that reply and still shown as "Pending".

I hope it's worth all the troublesad

Russell.

Russell - as Steve W says!!

My "gesture of goodwill" arrived a couple of days ago - totally unimpressive!

Given the breadth of articles contained in my (incomplete) collection of ME, I cannot see the 'best' of anything here. Did I REALLY read that MHS do not have a copy of All published MEs??? Unbelievable!! Perhaps they should hand over the publishing to people who have a REAL interest in ME rather than continuing to inveigle more 'dosh' from their subscribers/readers.

Given what PM managed to achieve even through the desperate restrictions of WW2, this 'effort' would have him spinning in his grave!!

Grumpy Old Man - with good reason to be so!

My experience is exactly the same as yours EXCEPT the magazine arrived in todays post so hopefully your copy will arrive early next week.

No comments about the content because I've not looked at it yet, the only comment that I would make is that one mans "best of" could well be anothers "dross" we all have different tastes and interests - get used to it!

Hi.

I also paid for my copy on the 30th August and no sign of it so far. I could have checked the contents out at WHS to see if I really wanted it. If I thought I could cancel it I would.

CR*P service !!!

I placed my order at the myhobbystore site at September 22nd. The day after I got another message saying that the ordered item was despatched. Furthermore, the message said that; "Your items are being delivered by Royal Mail, tracking reference. <trackref link to Royal mail>". The sad thing is that I cannot track the shipment as there is no tracking number.

That was six days ago. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive.

Well for those that havent received their mag, I rang the office on Monday 23rd to find out where my issue was. Told them my order was placed on the 30th August and hadnt arrived.

I was told they would send another, that arrived on the Wednesday....

So, my advice is, if it hasnt arrived ring them and complain. Otherwise you could be waiting a very long time.......

As for the content........well the jury is still out on that one....

You must have been very lucky. Following my email to them a week ago, to which I only received an automated reply to say that they would reply within two days (Joke!) I telephoned customer services again and this time got through and had a conversation with a most rude and unhelpful woman.

I started to explain what had occurred and was interrupted most rudely and told that she hadn't received any email and that the order was showing as despatched on her computer. She told me that I had to wait for 21 days for delivery and repeated that it had been despatched, seemingly ignoring the fact that the website showed that it had reverted to "Pending". She would not then listen to anything I had to say!

Oh yes, she also said that they only had a couple that were posted on 11th go missing - not the impression I get here.

I will try telephoning them again in a few days time and hope that I get a better trained customer service rep. to talk to.

In the meantime have sent an email addressed to their MD to let him know how their customers are being treated.

Russell.

Hi Cornish Jack

I said I do not have a complete set of ME.

The office has a complete set although they probably rely on the digital issues now.

I believe Diane has a complete set as well.

I would love a complete set but don't have the storage space in my cave.

regards David

If there is a volume IV maybe Diane should compile it at least it would be a best of the lot rather than the "best of DC's collection"
