Where’s Clickspring. He’s very good but hasn’t posted for ages? Clickspring posted a short video on his "clips" channel a few days ago, apparently he is busy writing a research paper on the antikythera, which has put his main channel on the back burner, I think there may also be patreon content available too. A recent discovery for me is 'An Engineer's Findings' which was linked to in one of Stefan Gotteswinters videos. Not many videos, but very thorough and interesting. His self built press brake is pretty impressive. |

![]() 144 forum posts 39 photos | luckygen1001 seems to be quite good at casting. ActiveAtom is a pair of guys who are precision machinists. They're workshop is more clean and tidy than anywhere I've ever lived. Bad Obsession Motorsport are a couple of English guys who build cars. Edge Precision does high precision CNC work. Keith Fenner has a lot of traditional machining and fitting etc. Machine Thinking is an interesting engineering history channel. SS Workshop is building an unusual loco he's designed from full size plans. I'm guessing he's stopped making videos because he didn't get the views to warrant the time and effort but what he has is pretty impressive. Tips from a shipwright is good for one boat, but might get repetitive. xynudu is ok, but has pretty well turned into a sponsored review channel for the usual suspect. |

I recently discovered Julius Sumner Miller, professor of Physics and enthusiasm. I used to what Why Is It So when I was a kid He did chocolate commercials too. He was pretty popular down here. |

13 forum posts | As this thread has been resuscitated, I'll add a few and repeat a few already mentioned because they're good. In no particular order... Robrenz. Lots of presicion stuff and techniques who frequently inspires... Stefan Gotteswinter. Trained and employed as a machinist, and often enjoys doing precision machining on small things. Sometimes boring, often very good! Cà Lem. Seems to work in a back street and making the best of his surroundings. Very talented. His recent construction videos of a 6-jawed chuck sums up his channel. This Old Tony. Covers some interesting stuff in an entertaining way. Not so many videos lately due to a death in his family.
Clickspring and Clickspring Clips. A talented watch/clockmaker currently constructing the Antikythera mechanism using the presumed methods of the day, as has already been mentioned. I learnt about bluing screws from him.
A lot of channels I used to watch, mainly American, but they've become commercial and samey. Some characters I've grown to dislike intensely for various reasons. One I occasionally watch for fun is Keith Rucker, not to learn anything, only for amusement value when he "bubba's", or rather "Rucker's", a restoration, or for shock value (his restoration of a precision level will leave you open-mouthed in disbelief before exclaiming "NNOOOOO!!!" as he delivers the coup de grâce!). There are a lot of unfinished projects that presumably died a death by Rucker off-camera. ...and is health and safety leaves a lot to be desired. Erf, but highly entertaining as a result. ...but there are plenty like that (I watched a 'restoration video' where someone completely butchered a Zeiss Ikoflex camera, using molegrips to undo the rear lens retaining ring and cleaned the silver mirror with a scouring pad [the comments section was full of praise of their handywork!!!!], but that's a different forum, and I digress).
Cheers, Duff. Edited By Duff Machinist on 26/02/2022 04:02:04 |

60 forum posts 1 photos | I have recently stumbled across Julian Mowlam's channel. A good build log of a 2" Fowler Showman's traction engine. As someone building a 1" Minnie it is very interesting to see the extra level of detail and complexity in a 2" model. www.youtube.com/user/jammymowlam1/videos

![]() 95 forum posts 37 photos | Tim's Railway (featuring on his "Way out West " channel) is, at least to my mind, an interesting and engaging look at a real world 'farm railway'. Some of his other projects make worthwhile viewing - the exploding boiler episode is - sobering. FC |

1160 forum posts 73 photos | Another YouTube channel I've become quite interested in recently is Cutting Edge Engineering, with an Australian chap called Curtis. Seems to be a one man band operation repairing heavy plant machinery, a lot of diggers, hydraulic cylinders and welding. Certainly not model engineering, but strangely fascinating to watch him work, he certainly knows his stuff. If you are easily offended, don't watch the out-takes at the end, as the language gets a bit strong! Rob |
