Thread: The secret life of components S3 By Tim Hunkin

Just watched Tim Hunkin's latest video, an excellent explanation of how pneumatic components & their systems work.

I can highly recommend it.

Thread: Problem with penetrating oil can

I bought this from Tool Station, less wasteful than an aerosol, better for the environment, cheaper as buying in bulk and comes with spray bottle. Must admit the price has gone up since I bought it a couple of years ago.

Thread: Another EVRI calamity.
22/12/2022 19:44:54

Fortunately I’ve never had a problem with Evri and I’m lucky as an ex-work colleague and friend now works for them and delivers to our area.

I can see a lot of people are having delivery issues and they have my sympathy but it’s not all bad.

Thread: Adaptation of the Proxxon Milling machine

Fabulous work Gray, a life time of refining your design and machining skills. I’ve just purchased your book, Projects for your workshop, from RDG (early Christmas present). Hoping to make the spindle lock for the EMCO FB2.

Looking forward to seeing more workshop wizardry!

Thread: I may be stupid but
24/06/2022 06:43:40

Hi Steve,

I agree with Nigel, you’re not stupid. Anyway I thought you had an Albrecht chuck, the Rolls Royce of keyless chucks. 😀

Thread: VFD Cable Supplier Recommendations
20/06/2022 21:51:10

Hello,

I'm in the process of fitting a VFD to my lathe. The VFD manufacturer states I need to use 3.5mm2 shielded twisted pairs cable between the motor and VFD.

Does anyone know where I can purchase 2M of this special cable? I've tried RS, Farnell and general searches on the web but to no avail.

Thanks in advance

Excellent job, a useful addition to the mill. 😀

Thread: Oil can (again)
19/05/2022 15:46:37

Plus one for the Reilang oil can, excellent design. If you're only going to buy one, that's the one to go for.

Hello

I opened an on-line account at RS as a member of the public, no issues.

Hope this helps

Thread: 75mm x 2000mm Belt Linisher Build Thread

Of interest to me too. I hadn’t seen this build before maybe because I always tend to look at the ‘latest forum posts’ section on the home page. Keep up the excellent work it certainly looks well built.

Thread: warco 918 bench lathe
26/04/2022 11:37:35

Hello Ron,

I was wondering where you purchased the Hall effect speed sensor from, looks like a useful addition?

Thanks,

Paul

Thread: Cheap stuff
26/04/2022 11:30:45

Couldn't agree more with Hopper & Steve, there are bargains to be had at car boots sales. Luckily I live near B'ham so there are plenty of car boots to visit with engineering tools for sale.

Steve showed an Albrecht keyless chuck he bought for peanuts, excellent buy, wish I was so lucky.

Thread: Learn to use a metal lathe
15/02/2022 18:27:06

Hi Eliza,

Welcome to the forum. I’d also recommend Blondihacks from YouTube and a retired metal work teacher called mrpete222, aka tubalcain, we’ll structured videos which I find perfect for a beginner (me).

I’m in a similar situation to you, I do have a lathe but I need to fix it first and then learn how to use it.

Have fun,

Paul
