I'm going out on a limb here.

I'd ban public passenger pulling on our live steam tracks.

Why? I've seen lots of clubs get suckered into having members pay for equipment, buildings, fuel, maintenance, insurance, etc, etc, then spending every "run day" running trains, instead of enjoying the day and talking to fellow modellers about life, love and (most importantly) workshop topics.

Really, if I wanted to run an amusement ride, I'd do it as a business, as after a while, the fun of it all wears off long before the bills all get paid. Do we really need it all to enjoy building/running/kibitzing with others of the same interest??

How's that for a Sunday Ban ?

I do like how the (e.g. 5" ground line guys) run trains to schedules, maybe switching/shunting, having railway wagons/carriages that look at least representable. I like to see people make things, and experiment. I like to see people use their brains and be successful. Pulling passengers around and around a circle of track is very different. I'm in the painting stage of my 3-1/2" scale Shay locomotive, and, taking it to the local club, I got some "thumbs up" but did get a "you built it too small" from the "pull the public" guys.

(I'm only half serious, but I did not enjoy spending my 5 weekdays dealing with people, to have one day on the weekend to do essentially the same thing, but maybe the retired guys need the excitement. Each to their own)

especially those that want green energy but at the same time don't want energy from wind, tide, solar, waste, gas, oil, coal, fracking, nuclear and any other innovative way of producing energy.

Bill D.

I have to admit to not realising that waste, gas, oil, fracking or nuclear were considered innovative energy production methods. Nor did I know they were green...

I would cheerfully ban street lighting of any type any where. After all most things travelling around in the dark have to take their own lighting with them so why shouldn't people.

The advantages are obvious. Should add a lot more people would stay in. That would help the NHS and police just as a for instance.

Why would that help Plod ?
Make more law abiding citizens stay in so the dossers can go out thieving in the dark ?
Yer, I'll vote for that. -- NOT

Our village has a street light, note "a", just the one. We are very proud of it though it only covers about 5 houses. Not a lot of appreciation for those who think that the ratepayer should light their front garden.

But it can be a bother if you walk out in the light and find it is dark on returning trying to remember which dark patches in the road by moonlight are lumps of poo and which are natural springs staining the tarmac.

They could do a SAS on everybody they saw out and about without a light and if all law abiding people stopped in they would know that any one who was out and about could be up to no good.

I just don't like this discrimination against, cars, bikes, motor bike, aircraft, helicopters and etc having to show lights. Just why shouldn't people, skate boarder and roller skate, pram, pushchair etc users have to do the same.

Then no need for street lights, reduced council tax and no need to pay a few bods who actually work on them over 100k a year.

Big shops and supermarkets opening on Sundays? I have nothing against people shopping on Sundays but once Sundays were different and people did things, different activities and relaxed.

JA

I remember when everything closed on Sunday and you could be bored out of your mind (that's before I got into this ME lark). We also had the Lord's Day Observance Society trying to impose their views on everyone. If you want to do something different on Sunday, just do it.

As long as what you want to do has no downside on me, then get on with it is my attitude. Next weekend is Creamfields music festival. I can hear it from my house 3 miles away, but as long as they stop the noise in time for me to get some kip (which they usually do), let them get on with it.

That is a good idea --- a curfew--- nothing like a good old fashioned police state mr Putin,

If we had this police state would we still be allowed this forum or would the moderators chop our hands off first & ban women from looking at computers

Sunday afternoon used to be a great time to go for a blast on the bike, the few Sunday drivers were nothing compared to the hoards doing their weekly shop.

Banning is the lazy persons way of managing the world

Because of this, banning is particularly favoured by religions and politicians

In fact all governments can ever do is restrict freedoms - I suppose they can hand back the freedoms taken away by a previous administration, but no examples come to mind.

I don't know about ban, but those two Shaublin classifieds look a bit dodgy. Apologies to the seller if they're genuine.

Neither do I, but they look like they could be trade ads to me so they are suspended until I get evidence they are a private sale.

EDIT: This does appear to be a genuine bereavement sale.

I would ban McDonalds from selling anything to take away because a number of lazy, disrespectful, mindless idiots consume the stuff and then throw their sh*t out without as much as a single thought. End of rant.

I want to impose a ten thousand pine fine for any cyclists riding two abreast on the public higfhway and a twent thousand pound fine for horse riders doing the same. They might currently have the right to do so (sadly both do) but that doesnt mean thats its a safe thing to do.

I don't really want to ban anything, just want leaving alone to do what I want and not upset anyone else.

Have you considered the practice perfectly safe but that it might just be the moronic drivers who are not safe.

Mind you i do sometimes wonder why horse riders cannot just go & gallop round a field instead
