Apologies for ongoing issues with the website, the IT team are working on it.

Neil,

iPad 3 running iOS 8.1.1 (A certain Mr. Jobs would have had heads on a plate by now, what with the release of 8)

It has been getting worse for me ever since your post, with me now twiddling my thumbs watching the download progress bar

What with that bleep bleep curser behaviour, it's becoming a little trying to say the least.

Not blaming you, but you are the Front Man are you not, having put your head above the parapet

(Highly) subjectively, I don't find it any slower than it's been for the last couple of weeks. There was a noticeable drop in speed at that time though, which has continued. On my PC.

I could not get the site to play at all tonight at around 8pm on either iPad Air or my PC with either explorer or chrome, also tried the sister site for wood work, same result. Loaded eventually about 11.30 pm but very slow !

Similar problems to JohnF, last evening.

Numerous pop-up messages:

"Server not responding"

[original iPad, Safari, iOS 5.1.1]

It was down from about 6.30 for two hours. Must have been a server issue as I could not get any of the other MTM sites to come up. Did e-mail Neil but no reply yet but it looks like he musty have put another 50p in the meter as its all working now.

Jason, I understand that I'm not the only one having trouble with accesssing the ME site. The site didn't respond and now it is very slow. Just tried accessing a forum on the other side of the Atlantic, very fast response.

Believe it or not (I don't) MEW is a part time job(!) and last night I was burning the midnight oil on another project.

Fortunately the nature of most of what I do allows me to have the ME website open 90% of the time so I can drop in for 'sanity breaks' whether working on MEW or something else.

Like every website smaller than google/facebook we do have the odd server 'outage', being a forum these are more noticeable than on some other websites as there's nearly always a few folks logged on.

Neil

Do you mean that dropping in here is a break from sanity then...?

This site has been very slow during the last week.

It's interesting, I've found it noticeably more stable and a little faster than before the server update.

The problem is the web is not 'deterministic' - one person can get a fast connection and another slow to the same site at the same time, just because they end up having a different route to the server, purely by chance.

Using a MAC (35 years of Pcs and finally deserted them because of Addware, Malware,Virus, etc etc). Why do MAC users have to use Ctrl return for a new line when Pc users use Return?

Bob,

This might help explain ...

Different strokes for different folks.

It seems that the problem is related to the hogging of bandwidth by the various MyHobbyStore shops (must be doing well for Christmas!)

A couple of solutions have been looked at with marginal improvements, but Katy the web master has made this announcement today:

"We are hoping to move the magazine websites to a new server without the shop websites this week. I'm hoping this will help with the speed issues. We have some testing to do first, but I will let you know when we're going ahead"

Fingers crossed.

Neil
