Johnboy25: Nifty suggestion! Unfortunately the part has now been Widlarised and is in the scrap bin. However, the idea will be stored away for use in future foul ups!

Neil: Zap! printhead unblocker brought an old HP A3 printer, unused for years, back to life for me. Available through Amazon at £7.99. It comes with a little syringe for squirting the stuff into awkward places.

Thanks Mike,

Unfortunately I can't see how to access the printhead without dis-assembling it. I think it will be OK with one or two more cleans.

I am at a loss

Workshop sort out in progress.

I found a panel beater's hammer with the head held on by two roofing clouts. Fitted in a half-decent wooden wedge instead

Trying to cahrge the LiON cell from my Cree torch now, Yhey need a special gentle charge when below ~2.2V and unfortunately my 'raise the dead' charger died when I fitted a cell backwards blush, but the cree cell seems to have mysteriously raised itself above 3V and the charger is now trying its best.

Turning off computer with Windows 10 - Click on the little Windows symbol in bottom left hand corner of screen, then click on Power and then click on Shut Down.

JA/Martin,

the problem I had was that the computer screen was only showing "Shutting Down" and it would not do so. There were no options available other than taking out the battery. Oh how I hate windows based stuff.

In which case why not switch to Linux? I've been using it for many years and have had no problems.

Oh how I hate windows based stuff...

I stuck with XP, got a dual system with XP64 now to take advantage of the memory stuff

The better half has vista and I have an 8.1 tablet, but I like the control you get with XP, mainly for trashing stuff which is annoying

I have been rather busy in the workshop over the weekend...

I now have a Simplex. Few bugs to iron out....

Axle pump made, fitted and working.

The Cylinder Drains were, um, well open or open or sometimes closed....
Attempt 1 at 'automatic' drains resulted in Closed, Closed or Closed (and a nice oily Shower).

This is my next attempt.

They will be Steam Operated using a PTFE diaphragm to close the holes in the top.
Still a bit of work and cleaning to do and the correct screws are on order.
Valve seems to work, will see when I get it all connected up.

Apologies. I had a horrible feeling that I had not answered the question.

Musing on making a small wet-back scotch boiler, as much an excuse to play in Turbocad, although I most of the copper in stock.

Any thoughts welcome. WP would be 30psi and overall diameter is only 79mm

Must have been quite amusing for anyone witnessing my failed 'Bird man of Warrington' impression, blush laugh

Yes I am OK. Scuff to ankle that may stiffen later but more bruised pride than body.

Nick,

Glad to hear you didn't do yourself any damage.

However, what the heck where you up there in the first place for?

Getting ready to paint the Austin Seven chassis black for the second time after removing the bituminous paint applied earlier.

Geoff - I have done silly things in the past, but that last was STUPID!
