I have recived an unwanted advert in my messages for Kirit Chandani of Kailash Hind Alloy Industries, Gujurat, India.

I replied, "No thank you"

No polite reply if I get any more.

Moderators please bar this gentleman and his company.

Thanks but I need the USER NAME to be able to track them down

JasonB,

Under Member Profile, it shows a box which always says "member off line"

In messages, under received date, "new 24/08/2013 08:35:59" This is in bold type, probably to heighten attention.

"From" reads, Kailash Hind Alloy Industries.

"Subject" = "Manufacturer" again in bold type.

Then it goes on aout the owner as written above by "Stick"

Where can I find the username?

John.

Jason,

Please forgive my intrusion ...

If I correctly understand Diane's recent notes; it should be a simple matter for an Administrator [as opposed to a Moderator] to find this Member.

May I therefore suggest that you escalate the matter to Diane.

Hi JasonB,
The forum seems to recognize Kailash Hind Alloy Industries. If I try to create a message to them the name is recognised but if I misspell it (Replacing ie with y) then it does not recognise them as a member. I was just about to post this screen capture to show where the user name was shown when John (DMB) replied. me_forum_msg.jpg

I have just put it in this message to see if I had the recent problem that others had posting pictures.

Les.

Thanks Les. What I get come up is a box to enter the members name, so I was looking for Kirit... not a company name. Delt with now.

If either of the people who sent it had told me who it came "from" as per your screen shot I could have dealt with it. DMB does not say who its from in his first post, stick only gave the message not the member.

Michael as DMB has now told me it is from K.H.A.I it is a simple job for me to deal with. I had limited time to give this morning as I have to go out and work for a living so could not spend the time searching for all possible permutations.

Duly noted Jason

No offence intended; I was just trying to help.

Dare I say it, I have wondered for some time that it may be possible to get castings made in India and sent to the UK for a fraction of teh cost of making them in the UK.

Perhaps if Mr Changani used the correct channels to advertise his services, he might find some eager customers!

I always say I have the best firewall in the world for on-line banking - its called DONT!

In the case of above, I fear that a lot of us are liable to drop our guard and click on almost anything on this and similar forums. Sooner or later we are likely to get stung. I am therefore keen to see only regular users and not outright strangers like the above advertiser who doesnt even appear in the mags.

As regards Neil`s comment about getting castings from India, I would think that the cost of postage would be a little off-putting unless they were Ali/Alli-alloy.

'On the editors bench' did it for me!

There only seems to be two words in the ten paragraphs that could be attributed to the magazine editor, 'David' and 'Clark.' The rest was obviously a press release that the editor did not even bother to 'tidy up' so that reading it made sense.

Hi There

I always rewrite press releases as they are usually to long although in this case it was concise, well written to start with and only required minor changes.

I have just re read the rewritten press release and it makes sense to me.

Warco was also a press release, again rewritten.

Chester placed an 8 page advert in the centre of the magazine. The page count was increased by 8 pages so no editorial was lost.

regards david

Do readers really want me to waffle on in Ed's Bench?

I can't think why if they do.

Whatever I write I will upset someone.

David

I cannot dispute that it makes sense, my comment was really that there was no introduction of any sort, it was just straight in and bang. It it had started (for example) 'For those readers who have problems with electrical connectors.. .....this might interest them etc'

The Warco item reads just like a rewritten press release, hardly what I would call 'well written', or did that just apply to the Contralube thing? In the past MEW has had product reviews and trade announcements within the magazine which is how I think these two item should have been dealt with.

My point is that I understood 'On the editors bench' to be editoriol content rather than advertising.

I just don't see why you would call your writing waffle, and as to your last line, its not a very apropriate attitude for an editor!
