Had similar response a few weeks back. I placed an order over the phone with the man himself for some BMS Hex. A week later I received an e-mail saying he had none in stock but was expecting some in within a few days. No further e-mails materialised nor phone calls from him despite sending him more e-mails. Tried telephoning him several times but each time got an answerphone message saying "no one was available to take the call". In the end I sent him an e-mail cancelling the order to which again I received no response. No money was debited from my account so the matter is now dead and he has lost another customer and no doubt will lose a few more!. There are suppliers out there who give immaculate service unfortunately Macc Models doesn't appear to want to be one of them. Len. P.

65 forum posts 1 photos | I don't use Macc very often but I have always found them to be efficient. My last on-line order for some crush washers and other minor bits'n'bobs was submitted late on 24 April just gone, acknowledged on the 25th and I received the package on the 26th. Can't get better than that. Jim |

![]() 137 forum posts 9 photos | My experience with Macc Models has been very good over the last 6 months. ALL of my dealings have been using the website and emails. Today I had a small problem with an order I placed today. I tried to ring to resolve but got no reply. Reverted to emails and the problem was fixed very quickly. Could he have a problem with his phone? Dennis

![]() 856 forum posts 212 photos | Mike, I have used him a few times and i have never encountered your problem. That said he could have had my parts in stock? 20 years ago people used to quote 2-3 weeks for shipping bits and bobs, to cover themselves. Today it seems, with all the technology that if nothing happens within 24 hours there is a problem. Maybe he is on holiday, or ill or something else, or a victim of his own success and can not full fill orders as quickly as they come in, so plays for time by not responding. It is my experience that people do not like to give bad news out and feel that if they play for time they can get away with keeping people waiting.
Just my thoughts and experience.

144 forum posts 4 photos | Mike, I had exactly the same problem a couple of years ago (recognise things could well have changed since then). I placed an order for some steel, payed by PayPal and then - nothing! I tried phoning and emailing several times - all to no avail. In the end, I raised a dispute through PayPal and got a full refund - though never any expanation as to why I never got any response from Macc. As per other posters' suggestions, I'd allowed for sickness, holidays, etc., but was just ignored. Haven't attempted to deal with them since. Regards Tom. |

![]() 137 forum posts 9 photos | An update on my previous post - I ordered some fittings yesterday via the website at just after noon. The packet has just dropped on the mat 23 hours later. This has been typical of my experience of Macc Models over the last 6 months. Dennis |

![]() 131 forum posts 12 photos | Guys, RESPONSE after My Paypal dispute!!!!!! Latest update is that they are not taking calls due to loosing there voice after a Footbal Injury,My 1st email through there site was never received and they don't have an answering machine,so who i left the message for on there number is anyones guess,They could have at least emailed me! But no. Funny how i get a response straight after raising a Paypal dispute,Turns out they also claim that a globe Valve i ordered comes from another supplier (steamfittings.co.uk) who is out of stock. They have the cheek now to try and not sell me the valve as they know if they split the order they will have to stand the extra carriage.
I feel totally let down by this mob and i get the feeling they carry very little stock and just take orders and buy in cheaper to make a few quid,I may be wrong but loads of people do this to make money these days on ebay.
The saga rumbles on.
Keep you all posted,Some may agree with me some not but it is all good info to have feedback on suppliers.

68 forum posts | I've bought quite a bit from MaccModels and must say I've always been pleased, not that this helps Deltic007 (hope you get sorted). One thing that I do watch out for with MaccModels is postage. If I want to order something heavy (say a 1" square piece of brass bar), I try to offset the carraige costs by stocking up on items such as metal bar - items I am not really in need of, but are never lost. Twice now he's not had the item I actually placed the order for and justs puts a note on the invoice saying "out of stock". So I end up with loads of things, none of which I need, and a hefty carraige charge - and still lack the item I actually placed the order for. So now I put a little note in the order to say either send everything or email me if an item is out of stock. Just thought I'd mention it. Hope he sorts you out Deltic - internet shopping is wonderful until you get a problem like this. Mike. |

![]() 31 forum posts 1 photos | I've had mixed experiences with Macc Models, they've always delivered in the end but it sometimes takes a while - 5 weeks in the case of the last order I placed with no response to emails while I was waiting. I continue to use them because I do find their material prices competitive, particullarly with orders large enough to offset the postage cost.. subject to the point raised in the previous post by MAC! Ian. |

![]() 1860 forum posts 121 photos | For the record...there is no 'they', nor are they a mob. This is run by one young chap by the name of Joe. In order to keep prices down he keeps his overheads down so he does all the work himself. I can assure you that he keeps as much as he can in stock, and you wouldnt believe all the stuff he has bought in specially for model engineers who then dont show up to pay for it! I cant comment on poor comms, he usually answers emails. Im just a regular customer of his. He has been very accommodating with me, but his prices more than offset the odd niggle. There used to be an answering machine but most of the messages were not orders, and if your a one man band orders are what matter. |

Thanks for your comments but i am afraid this is a fast paced modern life now and only the best win,I appreciate now he is a 1 man band set up.So am i, and i reply to all my mails & calls within 12hrs.I stock everything i sell and i strive never to let anyone down,Whilst holding down a full time job as well! If this chap is stretched maybe it's time he held his hand up and got help,With 2 million unemployed and government throwing money at employers there is no excuse.
There is no defence for poor service.
