Learnt much of what I know about engineering as an apprentice, most of that knowledge now obsolete in industry but still very valid and invaluable for model engineering. Took early retirement in 2009 when my then employer made an offer I couldn't refuse, I now regard constructing my 5" gauge GWR Manor 4-6-0 as being my job. Live in Leicester with my partner and dog not far from the Great Central Railway and even closer to the Midland Main Line. Have built models all my life, mainly railway related, although the Manor is the most ambitiuos project I have undertaken.
