They are to hold two components together under pressure and are to replace 8BA (not directly).   They must be Hex headed. 40+ required. Yes I found plenty of pan heads and only one source of hex, but they were gold plated price each!!

Hi Kwil

You could try here:-  http://www.avonstainlessfasteners.co.uk as well. They list M2 -M36 in both A2 or A4 grade. Phone number is 0117 972 8560.

Never had any dealings with them but saw them mentioned in respect of an enquiry for M2 hex head bolt/machine screws on a RCgroups.com forum.

There are suppliers on the Continent  for such things, at least there were when I went to the  Sinsheim show in 2000. I picked up some catalogues there, but they would probably be out of date by now.

To screwcut on that size would need a roller box and I do not have one so small. Please (anyone) do not suggest using a tailstock mounted die!

I made up a load of 10 BA screws in silver steel two weeks ago.  Turned the bodies on an old Emco Unimat SL and used the tailstock to get the die flat.  After that no problem.

Kwill, pourquoi pas?

They list 2mm metric in steel with both standard hex and small hex heads.  Most excellent I'd say and reasonable price and postage charges.

How about German? My friend Tony does not speak English afaik, but his sons do certainly!  As I know he has customers as far away as Japan, I think he would deliver to England also

Compared to the french supplier, his prices seem to be ok. The stainless screws are turned also.

The list is here:

Nooo, I give up trying to use this chain button, sorry!

You have to select  'Preislisten' (left column), then preisliste_schrauben_muttern.pdf
