Among half finished projects too numerous to name, the chief is a steam launch 30 feet long and 6 feet in beam. The engine, built first and started when I only had an Emco Unimat 3 and and Ammco 6 inch shaper for machine tools, is a modified version of the Leak Compound described in Model Engineer in 1983. The hull is along traditional lines but built in modern strip plank style with epoxy glass inside and out. The boiler is a Yarrow style three drum in steel to ASME standards with about 42 square feet of heating surface. People keep asking when I plan to launch it, the answer is when it is finished. I have written about a dozen articles for Model Engineer over the last ten years, including a series on European shiplifts.
