Abrafiles

A few posts in the past have bemoaned the fact that Abrafiles are no longer available. This chap seems to have unearthed a stock and is selling them at a very reasonable price. I have just bought a packet and am pleased with the result. I have no relationship with the seller other than as a satisfied customer.

To my considerable irritation … I snapped one a few days ago, and one of the special clips went flying

It may be in the garden, or it may be in the building-site beyond !!

Will I ever find it ?

Strangely was bemoaning the fact that you couldn't buy Abrafiles any more to a visitor to the workshop on Monday, got boilers to build so the link was most timely. Have ordered a few sets, don't know if they come with clips or not, might have to make a pair if my old ones are not in the drawer of everything, not seen these for sale for years, perfect timing Rod.

Seems my memory has failed me again and they don't come with clips, the drawer of everything just let me down too, so looked on Ebay and there is someone selling clips,

Ah, so it was you.
I added two to my basket, went to pay, and they had both gone.

There are some more on eBay, but longer ones and currently £10 per bag with no bids yet.

Hi Bill, I only bought one, I did think about buying the two, but decided not to be greedy and let someone else get the chance of getting one. There where seven available when I first looked, but soon went down to two when I decided to buy one quick.

I don't have a proper abrafile, so I made a couple of adapters out of an old hinge to use in a hacksaw

I think there was more then two when I looked, but was slow to pay for a pair, as I got distracted adding other items to my basket.

I should know better by now, but I've just gone back to the original link out of curiosity.
It now shows more re-listed items, and claims "more than 10" available.

Hi iNf, that's a good improvisation, but did you need the Abrafile to cut the slot?

I was given some blades 3 or maybe 4 years ago and made some end pieces, a real tricky job getting the blade and two end pieces all lined up, just tightening up and one fall out. Never the less, a useful accessory to have in the workshop.

De-lux end clips have a spring clip attached, Keeps them retained to saw frame spindles.
