Thread: 3M Scotchbright wheel
16/09/2023 22:10:05

Hi

I'm not sure that they were the same thing but I worked in a place with a big floor scrubber that used similar looking pads. Odd pads were often available, so I suppose you could cut circles and after a few revolutions I suspect the circles would trim them selves.

Hi

I knew of the whereabouts one of those Emco's, from memory it was complete and in good nick. Any idea what it would be worth?

Thread: Damaged Screws & QCTP help!!!
29/07/2023 15:50:42

Hi

there exists pliers for undoing screws by gripping them along their length. I gave a couple of pairs as presents a few years ago.

I suspect metric, but if people go to the "bolts on cars" thread you will find mixed thread standards are more common than we wish to believe.

Hi

threads per inch /mm pitch will help you.

How about checking the other treads on the machine to get a guess if they are metric? Or some other "Standard"

EDIT

how about hex socket head screws on the replacements?

Hi

yes it has value, almost everything does to someone, You can get an estimate of the value of what you have to dispose of by posting pictures on this site or by contacting your nearest local model engineering group.

Please try to avoid traders until you have accumulated more information but also remember they need to make a living

EDIT

There is this thread

Thread: Tube needed

Hi

Yep, looks like MadMike has it sorted.

It's for a magnetic catch, I bought the magnets before I decided how to make the holder

Hi

Thanks, but the lathe is not the problem, it's the wall thickness, it wouldn't 3D print either.

Hi

thanks folks. I will try to check them out but since I only need an inch....

I was standing in the kitchen, looked at the radio and thought "Telescopic Antenna", now it's just the sizes. 3mm is critical, 4mm = 3mm + 2*0.5 ( wall thickness) so not vital.

Hi

I need some tube 3mm id, 0.5mm wall thickness and 4mm id, 0.5mm wall thickness, an inch or so would be enough. Material, metal, but what is not too important.

Any idea where I get/Buy some?

An off cut from an electronic connector, tube from an aerosol ?

I maybe able to make a do with some solid plastic.

Thanks

George

Thread: Electrical Newbie....please help!
16/06/2023 11:09:12

Hi

Car batty for psu is Good, but use a holder that allows you to TOUCH one of the connectors to a terminal during testing, that way you have INSTANT disconnection,.

Loads SINK as much current as they want, no need to worry that a High current supply will damage the load (unless you have a short circuit)

Make sure your wires can carry the current your motor needs.

How about using an Ammeter in series with the supply? But finding a cheap >10A meter may be tricky.

How about a flexible drive or belt drive between the drill and the shaft to get clearance?

Hi

I dont know what they are called, nor the diameter you are looking for BUT

could you buy pipe clips

https://www.screwfix.com/p/talon-15mm-contract-pipe-clip-100-pack/11880?kpid=11880&ds_rl=1249404&gclid=CjwKCAjwiOCgBhAgEiwAjv5whPU4r0ezsDWome2al6kngTz14UjwTwU9JvxUxZ9WjbY-iYLrpR2ZFRoCa3wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hi

if you need to UV cure printed models you can use a tape of "UV" leds. Wind them inside an old paint tin. I'm told nail bars use a "UV Oven" to cure nails

Hi

their pliers are wonderful, various sizes, plane (Plain?) or Ribbed inside jaw etc.

Use the Hole punch (If you have one) to make a hole in the fabric.

Put the peg of the Press stud back through hole,

turn fabric over,

put other part of press stud over peg.

Put back on Anvil

Use punch to spread peg.

EDIT,

I just realized you dont have any press studs, and They are the sort used on Belstaff motorcycle jackets
