I use clear nail varnish over the screw head, I can scrape it off and have new lenses fitted in the old frame... Your lucky our optician says sorry can't use the old frame. It used to be OK up until the last 3 pairs. As one of the frames was sold as indestructible it really p??ed me off. |

![]() 618 forum posts 122 photos | Exactly what Duncan said, go elsewhere if they won't do as you ask. We use a place in Worcester called The Vision Factory where they grind the lenses and fit them to the frames, a fraction of the High Street cost too... |

3681 forum posts 70 photos | As Henry Brown says find a vision supply shop (not an optician). Have done this for the last 40+ years. No charge for reglasing just the lens cost. Only downside, if your prescription is "wrong" (it happens) that is your added cost, has only happened once in all that time so still cheaper overall. More likely to be more realistic in frame costs when you want to change. |

1585 forum posts 1 photos | I believe that the High Street opticians offering NHS eye tests have to give you your prescription by law. Specsavers put pressure on me to buy their overpriced frames which I now buy online at a sensible price. Good quality and screw heads always on top. Boots at least, will replace screws or bend side arms if too loose. At least they used to, don't know if they still do. I also got fed up with the conveyor belt feeling at Specsavers so now use Vision Express - get treated more like a human being. Above is my opinion and experience, so if Specsavers don't like it, they need to up their game. |

681 forum posts 260 photos | Specsavers wanted to charge me MORE to re-use my old frames. Told them what to do and took my prescription else where. Now I have had cateracts in both eyes operated on, I don't need opticians any more and get away with a set of cheap, off the shelf, reading glasses for close up work. |

203 forum posts 16 photos | Specsavers are a franchise operation, depends on which franchisee runs it as to how you are treated. Can't fault our local one for no hassling pleasant customer service and aftersales service. Had screws and nose pads replaced with no problem or charge. |

Cillary Blue are a good company who make new lenses to your prescription and fit them to your old frame. Alan Edited By Alan Jackson on 01/03/2022 10:49:21 Thanks for this tip. The big players who won't reglaze should think on. The rot started with the fad for so-called designer frames. Given that frames now come in a seemingly infinite variety of shapes you do wonder how CB go about getting the lenses to fit. |

I have several pairs of glasses for different purposes, and I've had new lenses (in one case, just the one eye) fitted on all of them. |
