Dear all

Just completed my Stuart Half-Beam and it's time to paint. Frankly I am fed up with my usual green, black, and the occasional bit of red!

Can anyone offer suggestions that have worked out well?

Pink and lilac are out of the question! Obviously needs something that suits the period.

Thanks all

Kevin

Shame about the pink and lilac..
Practical answer may be to look at the pigments available during the era and their cost. Raw or Burned sienna/umber would have been cheap enough. lead/tin yellow or for the really wealthier owner perhaps a purple.

A chestnut and light brown combo might be quite tasteful

I favour a dark maroon but this:-

could be good if just the right shade is chosen.

Black and blue or a two tone blue can look good as DocG's 10V below. I also quite like the much lighter colours such as pale green or pale blue, even an off white /cream can look good, have a look through this album of mine for a few choices

Here is my ST#1 in cream and chocolate brown. (What looks like white in the picture is actually a light cream, further pics in my album.)

Many thanks all.

Can I ask David George 1 what is the exact blue colour used on your engine? Looks very smart!

I was going to suggest cream. Anything between maroon and crimson looks good.

Brighter greens lined with white and or black can look good.
