More about me:

I'm a retired RCAF pilot currently living in Comox BC Canada.  I've been building things as far back as I can remember.  Initially aircraft, boat and ship models then control line and RC aircraft.  Bought my first lathe, a Unimat SL in 1969 and became interested in model engineering in 1971 after reading a ME in the Edmonton public library (they had a huge periodical section, spent hours there going through back issues of ME).  Built my first real engineering model, a 1" scale long 12 pdr as on  HMS Victory in 1971.  Used the base hobby workshop 9" South Bend to turn the barrel and the Unimat to make the carriage and blocks for the tackle.  Bought my Myford Super 7B in1977 and built a Stuart 10V (what else!) with it in '78 after moving to Summerside PEI.  Back to Winnipeg Man. in '82 where I started work on a GER 0-4-0 ST (Gemma) being serialized in EIM.  Bought my vertical milling machine in '83, (similar to the floor mounted Myford VMC).  Added Newell DROs to it  in '12.

Moved to Comox in '89 and finished the 0-4-0 in '91 which I run at the Vancouver Island Model Engineers track in Victoria.  Have built a number of stationary engines, a Rider Ericsson hot air  engine, and numerous pieces of workshop tooling.  Have two other locos and a number of stationary and IC engines in various stages of completion.

Other hobbies are Astronomy and electronics. (After retirement in '94 I worked for a local music store repairing electronic instruments, amps ,mixers keyboards etc. till '12).
