Voting is now open for the 2019 John Stevenson Trophy.

Entries have been received by the judges, and after some consideration we have identified a shortlist of eight items. Our thanks to everyone who made an entry.

Criteria for inclusion on the shortlist are that the tooling is practical and capable of being used for accurate work in a home workshop setting. It should demonstrate ingenuity, good design, economical use of materials and be appropriately finished for its function.

Please go to www.model-engineer.co.uk/stevenson to view the nominations and cast your vote.

Many thanks,

Neil

I just voted before I logged in. So, can anyone vote even if they are not members of this forum?

Hi Ian, yes, it's not easy to set it up with an external voting system.

It is set to detect and discard double votes though, so you don't get a signed in and signed out vote.

Congratulations to all the entrants in the John Stevenson competition. The voting wasn't quite as even this year as last year, but all entries generated inetrest and had their 'champions'.

The winner, with a lead of just one vote, was Mike Cox with his low-profile clamps. Mikewasn't able to get to Doncaster, but i hope to meet up with him soon to award the trophy.

A very close second was John Hinkley's indexer.

The rest of the entries were pretty bunched together, but Rik Shaw had pulled clear by a neck with his build of Harold Hall's grinding rest:

Once again, congratulations to all the entrants, thanks to everyone who voted and helped make this a success and thanks also to John Ashton, last year's winner for looking after the trophy and John Arrowsmith for getting it to Doncaster.

I'm sure John would have enjoyed seeing all the entries and discussing their merits!
